Has KR or YSR made more of an impact on the Tamil Film industry?

I believe, that even though KR has scored the music for more music than YSR, Ysr has produced more effective music. Almost all of YSR's albums have consistently been hits whereas Karthik has had many flops and disasters. I believe Yuvan will leave more of a lasting impression on the TFM field.Yuvans hit albums, to name a few are Poovellam Kaytuppar, Unakkaga ellam unakkaga, Rishi, Dheena and Thulluvatho Ilamai. All these albums have been produced within the last 3 years. Karthik has given us Kadhala kadhala, Ullasam, Vaanjinathan, Ullam kollai poghuthe and Dum dum dum which have all been mediocre. I feel there has been no cinsistency in Karthiks work and I feel that Yuvan shows more creativity and talent in his music. What are your views?

I (certainly) agree that KR's contribution is not consistent always...seems to be 'quality is based on $ invested' kind of thing. KR is very concious for high ranking movies like ULLASAM (ABCl's prod.), Kadhala^2 (Kamal's own), Dumm^3 (Mani's own).
In contrast, YSR is more quality concious. Whatever the production house or actors they may be, YSR has adhered strongly to the 'my music gives me the fame' principal. That's why we see his contribution has always exceptional.
Both KR & YSR has their unique talents and ability. While YSR tends to be more a kind of ARR-ish in his style, KR perfectly blends IR-ARR in his thought.
As for now, for me, KR still holds the torch. It will envisage us in very near future.

yesterday in Jaya TV there was an interview with Pa. Vijay, the lyricist. The interviewer was B.H.Abdul Hameed. Pa. Vijay is now a successful lyricist in Tamizh whose successful songs include karupputhaan yenakku pidicha colour-u.
He has penned all songs in ULLam koLLai pogudhae. He gave an important information about the music-lyrics of the film. THE TUNES FOR ALL THE SONGS IN THIS FILM WERE DONE FOR PRE-WRITTEN LYRICS. Meaning, Director gave the situation for all the songs and asked pa.vijay to write lyrics for them. Once the songs were finalised then KR was asked to tune.
IMHO, It is probably a record in the latest tamizh films. No films nowadays have done it even Bharathi, was not fully tunes-for-song category, i guess mayil pola and/or edhilum ingu are songs-for-tune. Hey! ram was songs-for-tunes-for-action category.
Considering this, i think KR has done a decent job in ULLam koLLai Pogudhae.
