...eyes have become big reading the subject.??.tongue rolled out ?? ..ha ha ha...
ok folks ...yesterday i was listening to this music MAD_MOD_MOOD_FUGUE of HOW TO NAME IT .....
In the middle there is a music bit which is dangerously similar to super duper hit theme music of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE....
HOW TO NAME IT was released in 1988 and became world famous among the music critics and composers.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE was released in 2000....
Do u think it could be coincidence to that extent or do you think DANNY ELFMAN got inspired by HOW TO NAME IT ??

who is bradman and who is sachinda according to u, mr.emmanuel????
mr.emmanuel, if limpbizkit and metallica start composing symphonies then i wud stop listening to them.......Rock is a totally diff. genre of music, which i think is not exploited by TFM MDs yet.......i think nobody has understood it yet.....

Hi All!!
Recently in a series in Ananda Vikatan , Kamal remarks that IR and himself saw a french movie(good one it seems) some 10 times. This could be an explanation as to why IR composes effective BGMs. He is a good student of cinema as a whole. So he is able to compose good BGMs. He would be a good choice for MI movies, he can come up with some good jazzy score reminiscient of 70's and 80's movies. As someone else remarked, If at all such an opportunity comes to IR and ARR, they should do it together!! much like how IR and MSV are doing it. It would be a sonic treat for the whole world.
Thanks,
Jaiganesh

I don't think Bach ever composed a symphony :-) (i assume its "The" Bach - Johan sebastian bach)...The symphony form evolved after the days of Bach...Bach composed only pieces of the form canons, fugues and sonatas... correct me if i'm wrong.

Hi Shankar!
I am not a WCM expert , so you might be correct.
Bach has done more concertos and oratorios(IR is doing Thiruvasagam in Oratorio). Please refer to www.jsbach.net
I am sorry for the mistake in the previous post.
hi venkatesh, The series in AV is titled as Love pannuda Mavane . It is very interesting.
Thanks,

hi Maddy..please spend a minute on this:
this is not about the genres of music...
this is about music itself...the technicality involved...but u had to ask...
I see ur just another person who has been marred and acclimatized by the whims of rock music..
I was one too..not that I don’t listen to rock now..but music is far more than that..
it can be understood only if ur a musician..
I’ll tell u the difference..coz im a bass guitarist
just the compare the bass tracks of any of the rock numbers like maiden's trooper or metallica's enter sandman..they are just a combination of 10-12 chords..in a chrono pattern n runs along the tune of the song itself ..any guitarist can reproduce it..but take a IR song and work on the bass..for instance "vanitha mani" or "paattu thalaivan"..u'll be spell bound..the bass part forms a complete track of itself..but still follows the scale..which is just out of the world..For that matter even an AR songs though has so much creativity involved does any justice to bass..check "katre un vaasal" in rhythm..the entire song is just 3 notes...
please look in to these n then you would realise what I mean..
Dear jaiganesh..
let me rephrase my statement ..I think I said IR is almost in par with great composers like mozart..it wasnt a statement of my own ..i just happened to quote the great flutist Hariprasad chourasia..who also states that IR writes music faster than Chourasia could play..and writing four parts music in carnatic , assigning bass/treble clefts is not a joke...
IR is probably not recognised as a composer as he spent most of his early days in film music..mainly due to his poor upbringing ..had he concentrated on his compositions and released his symphony long back..we wdnt be arguing now

Hi!
Emmanuel! Nice to learn that you are an instrumentalist yourself. It will do this forum more good coz of participation of ppl like you. Thanks for your inputs. I am just a simple listener. I have no knowledge, only good ear for music. To me 3 notes or 12 notes, is way over my head. Any which way, your analysis makes me feel better.
Thanks,
Jaiganesh

Im sorry if I've offended anyone..But its just its not my personal opinion..its verdicts from renowned musicians..
We had a rock-band in school..that was 7yrs back..so we've worked with most of the retro bands like scorpions,Gnr,maiden,B.sabbath,metallica..etc..when i used to think ..this was music..
but when i came down to college..PSG tech -CBE..I heard about our great Maestro..started listening to his music..then i knew what real music was...we had a college band..n we played 60%-IR,20%-ARR,10%-Eng & 10% others..this was the trend followed for ages..in 2002 we had a alumini meet in chennai n I got an oppurtunity to sit with one of the leading orchestras "Lakshman Shruthi" in their recording studio n had a glimpse of how they worked..
the main difference with ARR n IR's music is ARR works with sounds n he's very creative with that..but if you have the right equipment like the latest synthesizers you can easily reproduce it..but IR's music deals with simple instruments like violins, guitars, flute etc..but i saw them litrellay breaking their heads to reproduce even 1 BGM to perfection..
U wdnt beleive..for their standards they complete 4-5 songs a day..but they took an entire day to complete "kannan vanthu paadugindran"...
i heard the keyboardist say "motta na motta(IR) thaan.."..n also he says we can research on every song of his n write a thesis..
no wonder anuradha sriram chose IR's Music for her Ph.D...
hail Maestro...
Emmy
P.S: Jai..a question ..is there a forum ..where we can discuss only IR's music..?

Hi!
Thanks Emmy for that insightful post on IR and ARR. I think that there is a discussion board in raaja.com. Go there if you want to discuss only IR music. Already, people here are lamenting that this thread also is fast becoming a "IR ONLY" thread. I prefer to discuss things here because you can get to know various other viewpoints. There are people like Vel Ramanan and co, who can discuss carnatic influences in great detail, then there are other people who can discuss rock, WCM and folk influences too. So I would rather fish for comments here buddy. For IR only discussion there is also Raajangahm site. There is a site by some one called sailaja on TR's telugu film songs. In fact among Indian film music directors IR has maximum number of fan pages, I believe.
Thanks,
Jaiganesh.
