What a stupid Poll this week!

How can you compare MJ with ARR? MJ is world known for his 30 years in music.You can't compare ARR with MJ. ARR is after all just 10 or so years in the industry. And the worst is that people have voted ARR to be a more all round artist than MJ.! I am from PAris and MJ is raising a storm here with his new song.

  I too agree. This is not one good poll at all. Actually this arised from a discussion in a different thread. Its amazing that many people agree ARR to be a complete musician.

  ARR has made 50 albums, about 50 hit numbers.

  I think u need to get your facts right! MJ only has a big team for security and other stuff.
  
  u need to see his career from late 60's not 3 years back.
  
  he was just a 1 man team for thriller , off the wall. (although many people try hard to give credit to quincy jones)
  
  MJ composes orchestrates most of his work (which is what ARR does) + sings all his work (which arr doest do) + is single handedly responsible for the sucess or failiure of the cassatte + can sing the song in stages and dance to it also (some times both)
  
  on top of it all , and I am an ARR fan, this comparison is totally ridiculous! they are not n the same plane, MJ is known over 100 countries, people wud die,wait 100 hrs and pay thousands just to get a glimpse of him. The amt of money MJ spins and cassatte he sells ( all btw are related to music for those who think it is not) is a universy compared to ARR's dot.
  
  I wud file this under the category of an attempt to split ARR "lobbyists" asunder in the name of comparison by some very shrewd people ! :-)

  ( though use to be a fan MJ when i was a kid, had his pic in my wallet, that had no money)
  
  But when we talk about music ( with the glitz & blitz involved with it) both are in same plane.
  
  MJ belongs to big contry and its media is very powerful and wide reach. His kind of music has a wide acceptance already, and so he has wide audience. MJ wont be the same MJ if he had born in India or arabia.
  
  I dont say say the poll is very wise, but I dont mind saying MJ & ARR 's name in the same breath as a fan good music.

  so! based on this argument, can I discount any claims on ARR being more diversified regarding music because he in in the "3rd world" which has many subtle varieties of music. I will say MJ is in US and hence cannot know abt such music.
  
  IMO , arr introed a lot of MJ style sounds fused with indian music .
  
  well! I kind of weigh the functions each people perform and the skill set requred to be decent in such functions and the skill required to excel in them!
  
  following MJ closely for almost 2 decades I strongly believe that MJ is highly talented artist with good sense on how to promote himself.
  
  he associates himself with the best and most successfull, like slash, eddie van halen, but at the same time he unearths good talent like boys II men, r.kelly, sheryl crow.
  
  if u notice his biggest hits , dont stop till u get enough, rock with you, thriller, billy jean, PYT, bad, the way you make me feel, smoothcriminal, dirty diana, who is it (my fav.), will u be there, they dont really care about us,
  
  r individual efforts. If yo are crazy enough to buy all his video releases u will see himm work with artists, play instruments and record stuff.
  
  i am saying , having just 1 voice to manifest ur music is a big limitation, he has so much variations to that voice to make it diverse plus he also has the limitation to create songs in consonance with mood of the album and also to parade his dancing skills! his sound engineering is rated as the best by contemporaries.
  
  he is a pioneer in this field and the obvious music video buisiness which he is undoubtedly the king! and now this music video opens up a new dimension in his music works!
  
  in effect the situtional constraints which rahman has to compose music to is compounded by adition of voice constraints and also dance and music video criteria that MJ has to think about before hand!
  
  and also the theme of the album in arr's case is dictated by the theme of the movie and the directors i/p. Mj has to create his own themes.
