Music Directors who deserve(d) a break

I wanted to start this thread to highlight some of the music directors who probably deserve / deserved more than what they had got. Probably with the movie being successful, we would have probably had a different crop of people ruling the roost today?!?

Balabarathy:
I would probably place him in the 'most unfortunate' list. I liked some of the songs in Amaravathi. He had also scored the title music for a tamil serial called Chellamma - it was wonderful. Thalaivasal was scored by him, but I haven't heard the songs yet.

Soundaryan:
He's another unfortunate MD - moreso because his first movie was actually commercially successful (Cheran Pandiyan). He also had the courage to maintain his own unpretentious style of composition. His songs in "Sindhu Nadhi Poo" - especially "Athi Vadaiyile", "Adiye Adi", "Mathalam Kottudhadi" were all beautiful compositions - unfortunately the movie let him down. I guess he's scoring for a new movie now - Let's hope he does well

Mahesh:
If Nammavar had been successful, we definitely would have had more movies from him before his early demise. His compositions had a different flavour of freshness associated with it.

Karthikraja:
Another one of the 'most unfortunate' MD's. With the exception of dum dum dum, I think all his movies flopped commercially, despite the audio doing well. He still sticks to his own style of composition - which is refreshing. I hope he'll be some one to reckon with in the near future.

Please add more to this list - or you can also add more about the people listed above. I wonder if IR's name would be on the list above if Annakili had flopped :)

  Kaatrukkenna Veli is definitely not IR. It's Sivaji Raja. You should do yourself a favor and get this CD or tape. It's worth it.

  btw, imho KR is unfortunate when compared to YSR. YSR, imo doesn't do that much nice/good music though he is the second rank(sharing the spot with VS) in tfm. imo a KR in that spot would have been nice.

  r u people talking about the film kaatRukkenna vaeli which had a tough time to come out of censor due to its suspected LTTE tilted story? The heroine is the girl who acted as a child artiste in "poo vizhi vaasalilae". if it so then i remember seeing IR's name in the poster. i also heard that the movie had songs but the audio was not released.

  See SOTD thread.Few days back the song "Chinna chinna megam" from Katrukkenna veli was discussed.
  
  As pointed out by Udhaya it is by Sivaji Raja and not IR.

  There are two Kattrukkenna Veli - one is old (music Sivaji Raja) and the other one is what you refer to (music IR). New one is directed by Pugazhenthi, Kushbu in a lead role. It had some bit songs, samples are available in RaajaNGAHM.

  The Karthik starrer for which Murari did the music is "Solaikuyil". A very good song from this movie is "Malai naattu machaaney". An interesting news about this movie is that, the heroine of this movie, Rahini, became Karthik's wife in real life.

  Ramesh Vinayagam's music in the movie "University" is very good. The songs are available in raaga.com.
  
  Ramesh Vinayagam is also doing the music for "Nala Damayanti", starring Madhavan, directed by Mouli and produced by Kamal Hassan. Hopefully, this will be the big break for Ramesh Vinayagam.

  udhaya: murari used to play for IR and he tried to do his own music (as did VSN) but somehow couldn't make it. the couple of songs i am trying to remember feature very good melodies... it's unfortunate that he was not given adequate chance

  I think there was one another movie for which Murari did the music. If I am correct, the name of the movie is "Malaichaaral". This movie came immediately after Solaikuyil and I think had the same director.

  Did anyone get IR's brother, Gangai Amaran? Methinks his only hit was 'Vaazhve Maayam,' even though he gave a few memorable songs in 'Oru Vidhukathai Oru Thodarkathai', 'Suvar Illatha Sithirangal', 'Kudambam', etc.

  "Kansimittum Neram" is by VSN and not by IR... one song "vizhigalil kodi abinayam" is a gem.

  What about the music director of "Sollamalae"? I especially liked the songs "Sollaadhae..." and "sollu sollu...". I wonder why he never got chances after that. Also, the MD of KB's first TV serial - 'Rail Sneham' (I forgot his name) is a good MD. The song 'Andha veenaikku theriyaadhu...'
  is a beautiful one. But he did compose in a couple of films.

  There may still be some hope for re-rec in TFM, I guess. Ramesh Vinayagam's has done a rather job in Nala Damayanthi.

  1.devendran who d done excellent work in
  mannukkul vairam(song-pozhudhu vidinjidichu etc)
  vedham pudhidhu
  2.thaayanban (film :unnidathil naan
  this movie had good songs)
  i still remember the title score by thaayanban for the DD serial of sujatha "dr.narendranin vinodha vazhakku"
