  Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Swades is getting ready for release and the film is also being dubbed into Tamil as Desam. The highlight is that Shah Rukh Khan may dub in his own voice in Tamil.
  After Lagaan, Gowarikar portrays the love of an NRI for his own soil without depending on jingoism or patriotic dialogues in Swades. Sharukh plays the role of an Indian scientist who works at NASA but returns home to improve the lot of rural people. The music by A.R.Rahman is already a chartbuster
  
  Said Gowarikar to while in Chennai to finish the background score of the film at Rahman’s studio: “Desam is a sort of message to all young NRI’s who want to return to their roots. I realised how popular Shah Rukh is in Tamil Nadu and that’s one of the major reasons which prompted me to dub the film into Tamil”.
  
  The Bangalore based Goldie Films has purchased the Tamil Nadu and Tamil dubbing rights of the film for a record price. They are confident that the film will do well here when it releases on December 17.

  What truth said is somewhat right. ARR has many hindi movies and international projects. Therefore he should come to TFM only when there is a project for him in which he can show his real talent. Otherwise he would have the fate of IR who did whatever project he got and look where he is.

  just deviating from the topic.i saw vijay times on vijay tv. They showed a content about chorus singers. The singers told abt how is it exactly to be a chorus singer.
  
  A male play back singer was telling how badly they were treated earlier and all this changed and they got the recognition with the arrival of A.R.Rahman .

  When he gets projects like The Rising, Chandra Bose in hindi.....y shld he stick to tamil...which offers him Parasuram and stuffs like that...the only director who can exploit ARR's maturity is Maniratnam...very well used in Iruvar, KM and his other classic movies...the rest of his like AP, AE are mere entertainer...so it's forgiveble

  but paran even as a ARR fan we have to accept one thing.there can be no other musician who gives best performance regardless of the directors / stories he is working with for so many years except Ilaiyaraja.. ARR works best with MR or Shankar or rajivmenon or kadhir or ashutosh, VS works best with dharani , yuvan with selvaraghavan...... but ilaiyaraja mattum than pala kuppai padangalukku super music potu kuduthirukkar

  pudhiya magam,indira,vandicholai chinrasu, taj mahal,kangalal kaidhu sei,mr romeo,love birds, sangamam,may madham,ect and in hindi daud,kabi na kabi,doli saja ke rakhna,takshak,tehzeeb,dil ne jise, and many more can be defined as kuppa padam which has beautiful songs.

  ARR himself had told in a recent interview that he is willing to work only with few directors like MR,Shankar,Rajiv,Kathir....
  
  Now Shankar may not be in his list..

  truth yeah those were classics..but remember that was the time when ARR was still proving his worth to TFM.... in my honest view Ratchagan was his last splendid effort for a movie that has nothing else to say about

  the final output i meant was story and not the music... but rahman had every reason to feel dejected at his hardwork going waste just like anything........ in that sense... Ilaiyaraja sir had tremendous patience.. leave out the songs..he has to watch those hundreds of painful movies and compose background music........... and still most of them turned out good ..........that patience is not with any of the composers today

  agreed your point. rahman himself told in an interview if he is going to team up with barathiraja or kathir, it has to out do what they have done earlier. god knows what kathir has done earlier except idhayam.
