"The songs of Lajja have nothing special to offer, save a brilliant cameo by Ilayaraja. He carries the score forward from the banal." Subash Jha has said it. Need of the hour. Ilayaraaja in cameo sounds more thrilling than say he carried an entire movie on his tired shoulders these days. The advantage is: as in Lajja agains the backdrop of another composer who is the (chief) cacophonist, Ilayaraaja's doing one song and the background score, it will be easier for the current generation to better appreciate the serious differences in composing. I would say, way to go, Maestro. I know IR did a few cameo composing in films like Auto Raja (stellar song!), but is thisn't the way to go forward for IR?

raaga.com says Kaun Dagar is by Anu Malik

Kaun dagar, composed by guest composer Ilaiyaraja is nothing worth writing home about. Save the fact that one gets to hear Lata Mangeshkar after quite a while.
The music of Lajja is a perfect case of all style, no substance. Anu Malik doesn't do justice to Lajja, which is a shame considering he's capable of far better fare.
Now we understand what we can expect from rediff.com's film songs reviews.
I guess rediff is waiting for chances to sling mud on ARR too, who seems to be the person with whom likes of Anu malicks cannot stand on popularity among people.

Kupps..
did you read the way this Sukanya Verma has introduced Anu Malik in the article ?
"...of Moulin Rouge Chamma-Chamma fame" ! One thing is clear - they are seeing green with the media exposure ARR-Weber is getting and IR's symphony and Hungary connections. Well they can feel proud of their own kind..nothing wrong but not ignoring IR's composition totally...like the way she has done in the article. This only speaks more about the kind of journalist she is.
