Hey TFM fans,
One of the great jobs I think we can do is visit some classical musical sites and e-mail to the person hosting the site. See I did this once and the rsponse is as follows.

.....the movie itself appears to be composed by a myriad of narrative video clips, which in turn give the song an ³opening² towards other musical forms.........a moving form, that shows us its facets, its various parts
especially that part, and this:
moving in places where style and form can be continually re discussed, while still following a logic, a narration.........itıs almost like a kaleidoscopic song

Serioulsy i feel IR music shuld be packaged with better sound quality and suld be marketed in the west...his music is so soul stirring that he can bcome hugely popular....as tamils u guys shuld do it which will be a fitting tribute for this gr8 genius who has changed the face of TN.......
Murli v, ur grandson need not popularize ARR's music, he is already considered as a dark horse in international music.....let ur grandson concentrate on his studies....

ARR is alreasy becommin popular with his shakalaka baby; regis and kelly were dancing to it friday.
IR needs to learn how to record with higher quality before he moves out to face the world. His virumandi recording was horrible (the songs) same goes for many of his albums.he should go to his sons and learn how to use the latest technology.

Gyan,
good find on the balki article. It is heartening to know that he is buying the rights for the songs he is using. Who knows, you might be right with your prediciton.
"IR needs to learn how to record with higher quality" - Well, he does not have to. It is the job of a sound engineer. If some composers want to do this work as well so be it. IR would just hire the sound engineer, if he wants to or can afford it - like Tony Faulkner for Symphony #1. And BTW, dont be surprised it does not sound right to you. We all know what is a good recording..we just dont listen to close-miked drum samples looped all the time.

MS,
I sincerly request you to check your horoscope with your family astrologer(if you believe in it) and find-out some kind of parihaaram. Seems like nowadays you are getting into lot of trouble (even from forums archeologists) in our site. :-)

only one of a series of predictions. i am quite busy doing this ;--) i also wanted to include one more as thread is very topical (i-net) , discussion also veering to that (piratheepan focusing on sound quality): Rahman may end up as IR' sound engineer very much ARR, same same.
just a wait n see approach.
on a serious note, i don't see why there won't be different versions of different orchestras of IR' "instrumentation." why not? time only will tell, let us wait n see, keep fingers crossed, etc.... ;---)

"Rahman may end up as IR's sound engineer" wishful thinking......on a funny note: ARR will accept this offer only if IR agrees to write notes for ARR's songs......
on a serious note: ARRsir will reject this offer cos he knows he might annoy the gr8 man with his differential opinion.....they just can't work together bcos of their contrasting workstyles....

This post made some kind of sense.. no bashing, but i dont dare compare ARR to HJ and YSR.. he is miles apart..
How IR did teach what music is all about, ARR did teach how to market it good. And ARR compositions are good for what it is (different from the mudane)..
I am a true devoted fan of the gr8 IR.. I cannot consider he is the best when qualifying it to bundle his gr8 music extraordinaire to the masses or outside world..
sometimes, i too wonder why he is constrained to be in kind-a box when it comes to packaging it.
So let us not start a feud with ARR style and IR style. Let us talk about the gr8-ness in true spirit...
Btw, you forgot to mention the bgm of KALI, UTHIRI POOKAL, SINDU BAIRAVI, and the ever green Hey Ram.....

ITS NOT ABOUT BASHING,ITS A FACT THAT NO MUSIC DIRECTOR IN INDIA INCLUDING AR RAHAMAN IS A NATURAL COMPOSER EXCEPT ILAYARAAJA..MUSIC FLOWS FOR RAAJA...BUT FOR ANYONE ELSE IT IS MORE OF LIFTING TUNES FROM POPULAR SONGS AND THEY CANT DO IT PROPERLY TOO...HOW MANY OF ARR TUNES ARE LIFTED FROM MUSIC ABROAD......ADDING A TABLA AND A VIOLIN TO IT IS NOT GREAT PACKAGING....HAS HE BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE SONG IN COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VERSION JUS KEEPING THAT AS AN INSPIRATION..NO...HE HAS BEEN ABLE TO CHANGE HIS INSTURMENTATION NOT THE TUNE OF IT.........THTS BCOS HE IS NOT A NATURAL COMPOSER....NOT ONLY HIM NO ONE IS..A SONG LIKE MANGUYILAE POONGUYILAE WAS PREVIOUSLY USED BY RAAJA IN MORE THAN 6 OTHER MOVIES,HOW MANY OF US KNEW THAT IT WAS THE SAME SONG WE WERE HEARING....THERE WAS NOT EVEN A BIT OF TRACES..THTS RAAJA...NOT JUS COPYING STRAIGHT AND USING DIFFERENT PERCUSSION BEATS TO IT....

Again.. ppl's working styles dont necessarily qualify as not being a composer..that is my opinion.
If i hear a Western Classical with poor recording.. do you think, it is for the masses who really want to hear minute details!!

Rahman does not or very rarely copies tunes. It is only the rhythm arrangement he borrows/gets inspired from. Or he uses loops and samples.

Music Lover -
GREAT!
One more eg. 'Kuyillukuppam Kuyilukkuppam Gopuram Avathenna' was beatifully changed as 'Thuliyile Adavantha Manathu Minvillakke'.
A C-Graded Song 'Vadi Vetthalappaku.. ' of Uzaipali was later changed as 'Onathumbathoru Unnazl Adum chella paigiliye' in malayalm with KJ in the lead, which later went on to fetch awards for both IR & KJ. There are several more instances such as 'Ottha Ruva tharen' from 'Ennadi Munniyamma'...
IR has the calibre to utilize its tune to the best possible, by just changing the singers & Lyrics. I was fascinated by seeing an interview of IR in Asianet long time back, where he played beautiful instrumentals of his own compositions, in different styles to demostrate this.
