* Does 'maanguyilE poonguyilE' - SPB version has naadhas?
* How abt the prelude of 'andhu mazhai mEgam, thanga mazhai thoovum'?
* 'Eh aaththaaa, aaththOramaa vaariyaa?"???
IR can try a WC stuff, with naadhas in the lead!

PS,
1.of course it does...the prelude starts with a nAdhas only.
3.this too has nadhas in the prelude. the song starts with a acoustic guitar followed by a nadhas playing the tune of the song , then SPB takes over.

The pipe sound at the beginning of "Poththi Vechcha Malligai Mottu" is it nadhaswaram, shenai, or clarinet?

Using nadaswaram has not only been the forte of IR. ARR uses it excellently in MANOOTHU MANDHAILE in Kizakku cheemaile. Note the folk rhythm in the song.

Nadaswaram vidwan Sheik Chinna Moulana passed away. I guess his links to TFM are tenuous, at best. But thought I would post it anyways...

yes, very sad indeed. his contributions to the status of that instrument will make his name stand the test of time.

People say that the nadaswaram is fading away, but not in Kerala, nadaswaram is the main instrument of Kerala, along with the chenda and thavil. This instrument has kept the dances and processions alive in south India, especially Kerala, when you walk around the street maybe, you can hear in some Namboodiri or Nair's house, the sound of nadaswaram......:o)

rameshb, udhaya & bb:
`poo mudippAL indhappookguzhali' song also has another beautiful nagaswaram-TMS prose-order rendering in the 2nd stanza! While in the first he reads the invitation, in the second, he goes on to give a beautiful running commentary of the marriage itself....
mAdharAr thangaL magaL enRu pArthirukka......kAdhalaL mella kAl pArthu nadandhu vara... etc.. each one interspersed with beautiful nagaswaram pieces...
Oh what a song! (BTW, who's the lyricist?)

Guys!
The instrument used in `Do anything' of HTNI seems to be Shenoy and not our `mangala vAdhyam'..even the CD cover does not list this instrument while crediting the name of the shenoy player...
