Some of the reviews are already out for Abhay/Alavandan.
They say they are the fearless one for having to sit 3hrs of sheer torture and boredom
only saving grace is some technical shots
rest is so bore saying 'Kamals Abhay falls hard on face'
Poor producer Dhaanu :( should have made his sure bet with Vijayakanth or Rajni would have made some money.
Kamal make the producers go bankrupt in most of his boring movies(eg Hey Ram -Bharat Shah and now Dhaanu)

Hi!
I heard from one of my friend, who's in Singapore that Aalavandhaan is boring. Not upto the expectations and it doesn't even match with the hype given to the movie. Being a person who likes kamal for his acting capabilities, i felt very bad on hearing this. I dont know, how the film is doing in TN!!! Any news reg that???

It is releasing only today, the 15th of November, 2001, but how come, so much negative reviews/comments about the film!
Surprising! like how ARR's BOMBAY became a hit album even before it was released, how can one judge that Alavandaan/Abhay is a hit/flop even before it has been released?!

Kamal's Alavandhan was released in Europe on Monday itself so the movie has been showing. Please get you facts correct before passing comment.

Both MSN & Rediff have talked only about ABHAY...perhaps ALAVANDHAAN would be liked better (since SOUTH audience is relatively more mature)

Yeah...let's keep seeing those pink and yellow suits and ungainly dances...same old storyline (I'm talking more about VK films)...same old sentiments and heoics..
>>>Kamal make the producers go bankrupt in most of his boring movies(eg Hey Ram -Bharat Shah and now Dhaanu) <<<
If TF has some prestige in International cinema..it is thanks to the risk takers...Kamal is among them....
Please don't show your alpa budhi by starting threads like this.

Vijayakanth's Simmasanam,Vanchinathan and Narasimha are all flops and distributors were hit..Only VK pays rent to few noon shows theatres and giving Vilambaram in thandhi paper and maintains an artificial image The only hit of VK was Vallarasu in the last five years...So do not bring his name to compare with Kamal

Kamal tries too hard and ends up with crap movies ... the only reason they are hits in anyway at all is because of die-hard Kamal fans who are too bloody blind to see the faults (or rather refuse to see they faults - which is really dumb because this kind of blind fanaticism and praise for something that is ridiculous only makes him produce more crap like this thinking that his fans are lapping it up. Anyways, its the blind fans like these that make him rich, while the blind fans remain as they are, sitting on their asses and typing praises in forums like these. Grow up and watch movies for entertainment instead of defending the actors: the actors don't give a crap about you fans in reality and only claim to "love" you. Some postings here defend the actors like as if the actors are the reason for their existence (wonder whether they'll defenc their parents or state like that!)

>>Grow up and watch movies for entertainment<<
Miss Know It All, urm.. I mean, Ms Simran, kids watch movies for entertainment; u don't have to grow up to watch movies for entertainment. I did that when I was a kid. Now apart from watching movies for entertainment, I also like to watch movies that are thought provoking, or reports a piece of history, or have some artistic merit. I am not a kamal fan and kamal does not get any revenue when I watch his films either bcos most of what i have access to down under, are pirated vcds and videos. But i still watch them and enjoy them because of their artistic merit, historical significance or intellectual stimulation they can provide.
Everyone here is sitting on their asses typing on these forum just like u are, unless u have some other techniques, not bcos they are blind fans but bcos they want to share what they think, and they are all entitled to their thoughts just as u are.
As for 'defending' actors, no one here is defending what kamal does in his personal life like what he eats or who he sleeps with. We r all talking about the movies and his professional life. Why? Because that's what this thread is about. Some defend. Some criticise. That's what a discussion is all about. If u don't like that, then don't show ur face here in this forum.

>>the actors don't give a crap about you fans in reality <<
And I don't give a damn about what actors think of me either. Who did? But actors have to care about how the public receives their films bcos they can go out of business if they didn't care.

I don't understand how can one say about a film that has been released 3 days back that its a super duper flop. If someone doesn't like a movie, please they shouldn't jump into conclusions. A highly rated Kamal movie may not go well but we have seen few movies that are said as 'not good' running well (eg. Thenali).
Even if it is a flop, please understand that Thanu is not a loser as he has already sold for a record amount.
In the same Rediff review -
"Now for the big question. Should you go and see the movie? For all the disappointment that Kamal has dished out, I would still say a big Yes. "
I don't think that Kamal has to retire, even if this is a flop.
