Thread to Bring Peace Between ARR and IR Fans

The soul purpose of this thread is to form a union between ARR and IR fans. There are so many threads sounding like ARRist or IRist so why not a thread to bring peace instead of making it into pieces?

  If IR vs ARR sorry ARR vs IR fight is not there then nobody, including you and me will visit this forum.
  I don't know any other MD other that ARR being bashed so much inspite of being the no. 1 in his time. Strange.

  You know why there are so much ARR bashing. Because most of us feel he is over rated. Totally out of place songs and lack of good BGM from him.
  Most of the movies have songs that are forced into movie. Lack of good carnatic based songs. Under utilization of KJY. Over utilization of horrible hindi singers who do not know where to put the accent where not to put the accent. Murdering tamil pronunciation with new generation singers. Lack of understanding on the part of what folk songs? Using wrong instruments in folk songs. Repetitive tunes. Bad lyrics. Other than that ARR is doing fine with his crowd pleasing tunes like Mustafa Mustafa, Shakalaka baby..

  i am a desperate IR fan....i love his 80s songs n BGM..but..thinking about ARR...i think he too has his own talents..otherwise how could he excel so fast to an international level??something to think about>>
  what i think personaly is..IR and ARR cant match one to one coz..both of them vary so much n both have superb talents..if not ARR we wouldnt have equal the westerners in techno music..just have a look at hong kond n japanese artists..
  but without IR too we would have missed the light music blend...right???
  so..both fans just need to calm down and accept the fact that IR and ARR dont match at all at any cost...so y the hell should we fight each other..

  GB.... Superbly said!
  I am a desperate ARR Fan..but sometimes it feels good to hear some Jesudas/spb old song under IR music(specially when i dun sleep coz of some project i feel so(morning).) If ARR is like the smooth sound of soft wind IR sound like the pure clean water making little noises... both incomparable treasures..

  I too was shocked to see why Kum_Laden was attempting to bring in peace between the MD ARR and fans of IR. Why not (not our fellow forumer WhyNot) between IR and ARR Fans? There too a lot of peace process needed. Kum Laden this thread is vicious, viciously against IR and his achievements.

  ARR-IR or IR-ARR (or whatever) to film music is similar to sivaji-kamal in tamil film industry (though there is no animosity between the sivaji-kamal fans)... Equally talented ppl in their own era.. I used to feel that Sivaji overacted in some movies when I was young but 10 years from now, I would see the next generation calling out kamal's movies as overacting...Same holds good to the music scene as well...Younger generation dont listen to IR's songs and they dont know what a genius IR is and similary older generation are not broad minded enough to accept ARR as a great MD... The comparison between these two are like apples and oranges.....
  
  IR's melodies are now really great to listen.... One of the few things that attributed to this is the poor media during 70s and 80s.. Tape-recorders were rare during those days and a guy having a dual cassette deck was our DJ or CJ...I would have listened to IR's classics like nizhalgal, johnny etc probably once or twice before the satellite channels and internet came into picture... This doesnt mean that I'm taking anything away from IR's music..The poor media during his times meant that many of his good songs never became popular...I remember that during those days, the first time we listen to a song was in the theatre.. If the song picturisation was bad, even a good song was not appreciated... One such song was 'illamai enum poongatru'... horrible picturisation for a great song.. IR was the best during his times...He was (is) a maestro and a genius and everyone has to accept it....
  ARR too had the advantages and disadvantages of the media... his sudden rise to popularity was due to the media... but i dont know how many of u guys would agree with me.. most of his songs are not long lasting because of the media... we have tons of ways to listen to music these days unlike IR days... In chennai, FM is relaying a new song 10 times a day whereas vividh bharadhi used to play 1 year old IR songs in the 80s... Some songs are good to hear always, some are good to hear once in a while and some probaly once in a year...ARR's songs are now played in the tea stall, restaurant, auto rickshaw and whatever way we could hear it...... but even then his songs are good to listen for a while... I listen to his older songs like Roja and pudiya mugam every now and then just like I listen to payangal mudivadhillai and idhaya kovil ...... I have tried jumbling ARR and IR songs , and in one song when I feel IR is the best , the next song by ARR makes me feel he is the best and back I go to IR and he makes me feel ' Is there anything to compare with this one' and it goes on forever..... Such is the contribution of these guys to tamil music and instead of enjoying the stuff we have been provided with, we have an unstable mind questioning us 'Who is the best'?
  I dont gain anything by saying IR is great or ARR is the best but I do gain something when I meet guys in forums and chat boards when they share thought abouts genuine music, raagas and inspirations...... It's a good thread Laden to bring in the IR and ARR fans together...... Make this thread an unbiased one for exchanging views rather than f- words.......

  This is absolutely true. I guess most of ARR fans definetely are younger generations only. Those who listened to IR's greats will definetely know what kind of genius he is.

  I feel they accept he is a good MD, but feel when compared to IR he is definetely not the great.
  
  Thats the reason why this much fight. Basically its a generation fight rather than real capabilities of MD's.

  NCR and Jibi, again this thread is not about comparisons and who is great etc...its about bringing the fans together..... share ur good thoughts and views about the MDs and their songs without trying to pull down the other MDs....
