Recently i got to hear the songs of GURU(Malayalam Movie.. *ing Mohanlal).. i think the movie is released on 99 itself. I was just astonished to hear the songs.. what a great work by IR. I think most of the instruments are played by Hungarians.. also i heard IR was trying to experiment a new kinda music then.. but donna what happened later IR didn't try any such masterpeieces.. I think ARR fans should hear the album.. also anyone good in WCM, please come out with a review..

siva, the album was difficult to locate in Kerala itself last year:-)) I think some websites carry samples of Guru...why don't you try raaja.com? (I'm not sure)

Hi,
The film was released in 1997. It was the first film that Hungarians played for The Maestro! IR did not make any albums like that because there was no situation demanding the same! But I suppose Devadhai songs have the impact after that!
Hey Ram was the real treat after that! GURU original cassette has Mammooty giving the intro for each song! KJY, Chithra, M.G.Sreekumar, etc have sung the songs!

vijay ,
why use so many ! marks-avoid too many-it takes away the impact if you use too many instead of a simple full stop.

I haven't heard all the songs of GURU except "Pon Veyilil.."
The first interlude is one of the best I have ever heard in WCM sytle from IR..Comparable and may even exceed the "Menuet in Suite No.2 BWV 1067" by Bach, one of his best perky compositions.
