Unique songs..

Is there any uniquness about the song "Poomalaye Thol serava" from Pagal Nilavu. I think there is not a single pause in both saranam and pallavi. Either Janaki or IR contionously sing. I am not sure about this. Any other songs like this? We know about "Mannilindha kadhal". Even though it is said SPB sang continously he admitted they edited out the tiniest of breath he took in between.

  "Nee Daya Radha" in sindu bairavi is another song without ne BGM...infact if we listen to old songs u can find so many viruthams(but they might not come under songs category as viruthams dont follow a rhytm(thalam))

  "Unnai kanda pinbudhaan" - Sigaram... it has 2 versions .... one is by Chitra and the other by SPB himself...same lyrics but both are different tunes... simple melody with just the dolak in both the songs... no other instruments. gr8 work by the singers and the composer SPB.

  Take thiruviLaiyaadal for instance...the virutham before song "Pazham nee appa"(Gyana pazhathai pizhindhu)that doesn't follow thalam right?....My understanding of virutham is based on the Classical Audio tapes which list a piece which elaborates a raga with aazhvaar paasuram or thiruvaasagam(in thamizh grammar Viruththam mite have a definite meaning...but I'm pretty positive that in a classivcal concert if u elaborate a raga this way that is called as viruththam)

  Most of the kuzanthaip paadalkaL are of type viruththam and they say viruththam isaiyodu paada eetRathu (naan paadip paarththathillai ;-)
  
  'KaNNan ennum mannan paerai sollach cholla'nnu oru pazaiya paattu irukku (KaNNadasan), athu oru perfect aasiriya viruththam-nnu en friend solvaar !

  Nagas, thiruda thiruda soundtrack came well before nammavar...i think doesnt matter anyways.. lots of songs have no bgm.. i mentioned the one that came to my mind first...

  I'm sure that thiruda thiruda was 1993 and nammavar was 1994....both songs are unique in its own ways... so namma edhukku argue pannanum.....

  Siru ponmani asaiyum song from Kallukkul Eram.
  It has so many "la" "zha" "lla" in the first stanza. It is little difficult to sing. But IR and SJ did a commendable job.

  How about Thenpandiseemalyile from Nayagan. No background score in one of the versions.
  
  'Ekantha Velai' from I think from Paasa paravaigal, will be like question and Answer. Unique and melodious too.
  
  Some body give me the link of Porandhu Vandhathu of MayaBazaar Link. Very unique chorus songs handled with chorus.
  
  Also Paadum Neram Ithuthan from Soora Samharam has excellent chorus utilization

  Is the following true?
  
  The song "oru naal podhuma" from Thiruvilaiyadal - the singer (acted by TS Balaiah?) has lyrics that goes: "Enakkinaiyaga darbaril evarum undo" and that part (or soon after) is sung in Darbar raagam. I believe the other two stanzas are also the same way with two other different raagas.
  
  If true, I think it is very clever use of words+raagam. Any other songs like that (like in Sindhu bairavi or something?) where the lyric mentions the raaga and the song is sung in the same raaga?

  Guess the earliest song of that kind was bt MKT ...the song goes like this "Vasantha ruthu mana"...a lot of ragas like Vasantha,Mohanam,kunthalavarali are mentioned and sung...other song is Athisaya Ragam..."Intharaga logathu chakkaravaaham"(although that part is in raga Mahathi it is very close to Chakaravaham)...and ofcourse the secong stanza about bairavi is set in Bhairavi
