  dont you ever compare rehman with raja. dare you dont cos rehaman has just done about 75 films against raja's 800 films let him atleast complete 200 hundred films and then we shall think of comparing. if rahman is so selective that he will do films only for shankar, mani and big banners like A.M. rathnam bharathiraja and mahesh bhat then he is not at all in the race with any one for that matter.
  its very simple its the films hit that determines the music to be a hit or a flop. let me ask people what does films like bhagavathi and vaseegara have for their music to be hit. a clear cut example, "ullathai allitha" all the songs were blatent copy and still got hit, just because of the film. take this example vikram was a film which got out of the theatres in just thirty days but the songs were mega hits. the same case for kalaignan , ananda kummi, chinna mapilai etc.
  
  Can i ask what the so called gteat kadhal virus did. the film is flop and so is the music. how many times has it featured as video in tv channels.
  
  Its a good lesson to kathir who thinks he is a genius in love subject but a zero in even selecting a story and that has made rahman repent for doing music for that film straight from his bombay dreams project.
  
  To me rahman is like a horse. He needs a good jockey to drive him and a clean ground to race. he relies on the jockey much. he doesn't race on a rough track where his defeat is apparent.
  
  a frank opinon friends vidhya sagar has an excellent strike rate than any one else in the tfm industry.all most eacha nd evry film is a hit. i may welcome a vidyasagar-rahman comparison.

  HK, said a very good point, but I differ at only one point that not only ARR but every MDs are horse. IR has been ridden properly by Covai mani etc..etc...

  Sorry forgot to add that even the very good Jockey Covai Mani cannot ride the best Horse R.D. Burman. Bottomline is professionals do not argue who is the great IR or ARR Einstein or Physics Student etc. (they themselves dont), just passers by like us wasting time in comparing IR with ARR MSV with IR etc, and clear shows our ignorance.

  I hope kadhal virus is the one with the
  songs like:
  * Vaan Nila
  * Baila more
  Correct me if I'm wrong as I don't remember
  the movies as good as the songs & music.
  It's not fair to tell that Kadhal Virus music
  is a flap if the author of the posting doesn't
  like those songs.
  
  These songs were one of the best of ARR I've
  ever listened and liked, and so are many of
  his fans that I know of. These songs are not
  for everyone's taste. Listen to these songs
  ignoring the meaning of the verses (The verses
