There are many talented Tamil band musician who can play many types of songs like Nallathamby, appu, kesavan, bassist raaja, guitarist maha, percussinist ramu, tabla ravi etc. But whenever there is show in malaysia by indian playback singer, they are not given opportunity by the fellow malaysian organisers, WHY? why we dont groom our local talent. If anyone can say Keith Peters is good bassist, try Gyppy raaja or ganesh's. We have equal talent in malaysia yet we see musician from india as great.WHY?

Yes, khootadi. The bloody show promoters in malaysia are so concern to make money by importing Indian musicians. But they forget the local talents. This is what the Tamilans are good at. Do not help their own people because they are greedy after money...money..

I was in malaysia recently and happen to watch S.Janagi amma show during 2003 diwali time. Wow, the accompanying musicians are great. I like the way the Maestro's music captured by the musician without any major mistakes. The mistakes was only in the timing not the notes. What astonishing me is that none of the musicians have any formal karnatik or western music knowlwdge! They only play by ear! What a superb musicians.

I heard for the coming VTQ 2004 the musicians for the final is imported from India via Barathwaj & company (know who in Astro). Know why Baratwaj is coming so often to Malaysia? Cos,he cannot Cari makan in India with his so-so composition. So, his 'buddies' in Malaysia feeding him with giving all opportunities meant for malaysia to him. What so great about baratwaj...another unwanted musician from india , that's all. Dont believe, this was told to me by one of the 'buddy'.
Kera di Hutan di susu, anak di rumah kelaparan - means monkey in jungle is fed with milk while the child at home is left starving. This is what We malaysian indians are facing. It high time to do some serious 'shakeout'

All 4 of you are one and the same with the same IP.
Anyway, I guess the one who posted this thread probably owns this band or something... and is a bit frustrated being ignored... I understand the frustration
but, organizers bring celeberaties from India because they are professionals and popular among the crowd and so it's easy to sell the tickets..
I don't think there is anything wrong in that.
I am not saying the local talents are not professionals but if they are not popular, tickets wont sell. You are saying that these musicians dont have carnatic background and they play by ear! Now, how would that gain the confidence of the organizers? From the organizers point of view, it's understandable.
Dont loose hopes. Time will come when the local talents would also come under the limelignt!

TQ cho for your pleasant support. though from same IP not me alone posted the response but my group of friends who, used to hang around at my place on weekends at Bangsar did it through my PC. Some of them r foreigners. Now thats not cheat, isn't it? Even Koothadi dont own the IP. He is another friend of mine from JB.
Sorry I am not frustrated, but slightly dissappointed the way the local Indians are treathing their countrymen. Why its so hard to let our fellas to bite the fruit alongside with foreigners?
Not all India musician have music knowledge and not many of them are known to malaysians. Malaysians Indians are going for the shows and tickets are being sold because of an individual figure like SPB, hariharan etc. What I mean here is let malaysian musician accompany the India singers. I respect the India singers because their are International figures. Thats all.

Well, Bharatwaj is not the best but certainly not dumb. He is quite knowlegeable and is a bit famous among the crowd. I don't know about the crowd in malaysia. Not all the Indian singers are comfortable being backed up by local bands. It's just a matter of image and things like that. SPB is cool but Hariharan is hard to satisfy. Also usually there will be about 20 to 25 songs in a normal concert. Right? It's hard for the organizers to arrange for rehearsals in locally with the local band before the show bcos they have to allocate time for that and that involves additional cost. Moreover if something happens during the rehearsals or if the singers are not satistified with the music for whatever reason (it may not be the insrumentalist's fault but remember there is an element of ego), the organizers cannot do anything during the last minute and whole thing will be a mess. They just want to be defensive and it makes sense from their point of view. Unless the local band proves their talent and get their popularity, it's hard to convince the organizers and that's what I meant in my earlier post.. It takes time.. No offence meant.
anyway, good luck!
btw, manjula, koothadi, ashwina ellam foreigners-a?! from where? India?!.. just kidding :)
