This year's Cinema Express Awards were presented to the following artists:

Best Song Writer: Vairamuthu (MINSARA KANAVUGAL)
Best Music Director: S.A. Rajkumar (SURYA VAMSAM)
Best Male Vocalist: Krishnaraj (PORKALAM)
Best Female Vocalist: Sujatha (SURYA VAMSAM)

  This proves again that Cinema Express awards are really not awards for the talent, but a way of giving out money to some 'chosen' people!

  I agree to your statements that we have different opinions. But a common point that is acceptable is that "Inji Iduppazhaga" is probably one among the rarest songs which have won two national awards in two different periods. Can you please elaborate upon the "OoLaLaLaa" and explain the vocal nuances that chitra had displayed so that I may get a better insight into the song? This shall help me compare better the other melodies of Chitra.

  SJ got an award for Inchi song . Also there is no way that these two songs can be compared. They are both in their own style. - the Minsara kanavu song is a feet tapper and that's all it has to it.But may be the jury that it was best of the songs in that year .
  
  But Inchi idupalaha is a real treasure . I would say a lesson to all these new singers who pronounce tamil words as though it is a sin to utter tamil. IR could not even imagine that song without SJ. Hats of to her !!
  
  But anyway thomas's statement "Personally I think she sounded very, very old in that song. I mean unflatteringly oldish vocals " is not right i guess.

  I heard a English Song Which Had the Exact Starting Lines and tunes of OOO LA LA. Experts can find out the real name of the English Album. But it is a definite lift from a English Song.

  I THINK THAT THERE ARE TWO MANY ORGANIZATIONS GIVING OUT AWARDS. NO WONDER PEOPLE DON'T TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY THESE DAYS. AFTER A WHILE, IT ALL GET'S PRETTY BORING. IN MY OPINION, IF "INJI IDDUPALAGI AND "PAAYALAEY CHUNMUN CHUNMUN" CAN GET THE NATIONAL AWARDS THEN WHY SHOULDN'T "THANGA THAMARAI MAGALAE" AND "OH LA LA". IT'S NOT THE OTHER TWO WERE ANY HARDER TO SING. IN MUSIC TODAY, EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE SOUNDS THE SAME. NOONE IS WILLING TO GIVE SOMETHING NEW.

  I know that she won the award. I was trying to make my point that none of the songs were any harder to sing. Or doesn't seem to when you hear them. BTW, please check out the Tidbits thread and see if you can contribute to my query. Would be much obliged.

  I was not trying to compare Ohh La La and Inji Idupazhagi. See, people are starting to say that awards are not given according to the hard work involved or to art films. But I think commercial films should have a go to. I admit that 'Kannalanea' deserves more credit than Ohh La La but see, it did not get recognized.
