IR gave us several new wonderful voices (chitra, swarnalatha), but there are also several people who sang some far-out numbers for him who are forgotten today. arunmozhi, jency, dheepan chakravarty come to mind readily. also the guy who sang thenral ennai muththamittadhu in sridhar's oru odai nadhiyagirathu (horrible movie), the male lead of a duet that goes "anandha dhaagam....adikkadi malarkodi megam paarkkumo" and the guy who sang for rajini in kazhugu, kaathal ennum koil katti vaithaen nenjil. interested fans pls continue this thread.

Another notable singer is S.N.Surender. He has sung many numbers including "Devan Kovil Deepam Ondru"

latha rajnikanth also sang the song kukukoo in valli.b.s.sasirekha has also sung some nos. the notable one being 'vizhiyil vizhundu' from alaigal oivathillai. great song.
s.p. shailaja has also been given lot of songs by raaja. her notable ones being

raasave unnai thaan - thanikaatu raja

van pole vannam- salangai oli

I dont' know for sure as to who is the MD for the film 'Mridanga chakravarthi'. Seerkazhi sivachivadhambaram has sung an ultimate no. in the film. 'Abinaya sundari aaduginrAl en aasai kanalai oodhuginral'. I dont' think he has sung any other for IR.

I have listened to Kukkoo koo koo from Valli - I think Latha Rajnikanth did a pretty lousy job (it would strike one if one listened to the Telugu version by Chitra) - so I don't think her name should come under unsung HEROES in IR's baton.

Balamuralikrishna also sang few songs for IR..
in 'Kavikuyil'- "aayiram kodi..' and 'Chinna
kannan azhaikkiraan..'...

PB Srinivas worked with maestro for few songs..
one song from 'kadavul amaitha medai'..
can anybody recollect that song?..
it is a beautiful melody by the maestro

i guess mitali's name can also be added to this list. remember she sang that lovely ditty yamunai aatrile eera kaatrile in dalapathi? of course her rightful claim to fame is as a ghazal singer.
her husband bhupinder (i hoipe i am not wrong!!!) also sang under IR a long time back for IR in "Nandu", a song that goes kaise kahoon, kuch keh na sakoon.

Rajaraman,

"Kathirunthen Thaniye" in Rasa Magan is sung by Chandrasekar (It is his real name. I do not know the psuedoname). He used to do Tracks for Raaja.

Anybody know of S.P.Pallavi (SPB's daughter )?
She was introduced by ARR for Kadhalan. If I'm correct. Her next muscial appearance was for a Telugu film.

Shankar:
Sunanda has not sung a lot of songs. Indeed very few songs.
Some of the good ones are:
Poove Sempoove...Solla Thudikuthu Manasu
Vella Manam....Chinna Veedu
Shenbagame...Enga Ooru Paatukaaran.
She is like a Jency, suddenly dissapeared after giving some good ones. If I remember correct, she sang 5/6 years ago Under IR. Now a days, you don't hear it anymore. That's why I included sunanda? M

"aanandha thaagam" was from "Vaa Indha Pakkam" a Mouli/Pratap movie. The MD was Shyam and the singer was Deepan Chakravarthy.

"Ponn Mane Kobam yeno" from Oru Kaidiyin Diary - sung by "Vijay" is none other than our well known "Unni Menon" - I read this piece of info in one of his interviews - seems Ilaiyaraja introduced him as Vijay - for some reason he did not get many chances in Tamil, so went back to Kerala until he got another break in Roja - so technically Raja introduced Unni Menon in Tamil.

Mano's real name is Nagoor Babu. He struggled a lot coming up as a singer. Initial songs in telugu one can see on casettes his name as Nagur Babu.

Yes it was Telugu MD Chakravarthy Introduced him to IR. Later on IR Changed his name to Mano. I guess he sang more number of songs for IR than anyother MD.

Same time chitra was also around. In an interview Mano told that to match with chitra's name he was named as Mano by IR. But people say the real reason was that IR wanted them to be represent his Mano Chitra. That means Image of his Mind. But didnt happen so.

Thendral ennai muthamittadhu is by Sasirekha. The song by rajeshwari is Thalaiyai kuniyum thamaraiyae. She also sang in Thai Mookambigai for Manorama. (I don't remember the song though...)
