I mail ordered "Bloodstone" DVD (Rajni Starrer) in the anticipation to listen to IR's re-recording. I was very excited to see the movie encoded in "Dolby Digital". I got the DVD just now and the label says the music was scored by some "Tom Marolda". I have no idea where he came from. I am very disappointed. I saw this movie 10 years back and very well remember that I saw IR's name as the music composer. Did any of you folks know if it could be an error or if IR never composed for BLOODSTONE? Let me know.... :-(

I searched the internet for "Tom Marolda" and he seems to be a Grammy winning composer. So the name is genuine. Can anybody throw light into this?

Deepu.,
I think no one come forward to check this,
I have asked some people I know.
Few told me CAT is out of the Bag!....I do not want to go into this!....I dont have the energy.
Few are yet to comeback to me.
Only thing! I suspect is, I feel is there might be an indian edition/release for which raja might have scored, I will try to confirm this by this weekend.
I remember seeing this movie in madras and I remember raja's name appearing in the titles.

Deepu, one very very silly question.... r u sure its the same BloodStone that Rajini acted???? cause when i search for BloodStone movie in NET, it gives me some other thing like 'VanDamme' movie...

Sabesan
Van damme's movie "Maximum Risk" was also called Bloodstone. Checkout http://www.imdb.com which is a pretty comprehensive DB site to search on any info related to English movies. It says original music for the Van Damme movie is by Robert Folk.
Lets wait and see what Srikanth unravels..

Guys,
As far as I can remember, the music for Blood Stone was not "Composed" by IR. Actually the music WAS by someone else. What IR was reported to have done was to lend his expertise in one of the scenes in the movie where at the villians hideout, the BGM has Yesudas singing something classical-like. Even the credits just said something like "Music support" or something to that effect against IR's name. This is as far as I can remember having seen.
So in reality, IR's talent was being used only in an area where the main composer of the film was lacking.

HI
IR composed and recorded the entire RR for Bloodstone at Kothandapani Audio Labs (SPB's recording theatre) in Madras. For some of the scenes for vocal humming he even used TVG.
But finally for reasons best known to IR and Amirtraj Brothers, the man who did the final mixing for optical transfer in London had his name appear as the composer. And IR was left with a credit ack that comes in the beginning before the main credits begin.

Is it possible to check with Amritraj brothers or with IR himself? Does anybody know the email or contact for Ashok Amritraj ( who happens to be the executive producer of the movie)?

I watched this movie on DVD last week and did not find any reference to IR in the credits section. It has somebody else's name for music. I think this needs clarification. Srikanth was supposed to check on this. I am not sure if anybody else can thro more light on this.

Looks like ARR is going to do something with amritaraj. He should be careful..not to end up as..'Second fiddle - ARR' in the credits.

IR did the music for Bloodstone. Rajini was not the hero but a cab driver in that movie.
The movie was a big flop (worst than baba, I would say). T.Rajender bought the distribution rights for tamilnadu and burned his fingers.

bloodstone was probably released about 20 years ago. But bcos that movie was a super dooper flop, it went unnoticed. IR was the first one to score music for a holywood film (if at you call that a hollywood film). One of the reasons why it failed was bcos rajini fans thought that rajini was the hero in that movie but he wasn't.

This movie was not a super dooper flop bcoz in the 1st place its a B/C grade movie. Don't remember seeing IR's name in the forefront movie titles or anywhere for that matter. Not sure whether he used a pseudonym but I did hear he was doing the music.
The only good thing I can remember abt this movie is the funny policeman througout the whole show.

If it is IR's music it must be real evident the way he composes music, right? I still remember it was composed by IR (the greatest ever muscian) and I am 37 yr old:-) so, the movie was realeased in the 80's:-) of last century.
