Dear Ravi,
please excuse me for starting a separate thread for this , I did go thro'the other thread "TFM artists in other languages" as Mr. Ramki had suggested me in another thread but I thought, this thread will be of interest to lot of music fans in a different way, I sincerely request all TFM DF participants to contribute to this thread and share their experience with others.

  Thanks a lot for that great info about IR's Kannada works. After listening for a few times to the language, I find a lot of similarities between Tamil and Malayalam and Kannada words.

  Has anyone wondered, why IR did not make a serious
  attempt to get into Hindi films. Hearing all the filthy and crap music(not all I would say), from the hindi MD's, I guess why IR should hesitate to score for Hindi movies. Any comments in this regard?

  Swami: I agree, IR should try and do some Hindi films, if Karthik can win an award there with GRAHAN, IR will be phenomenal.....I guess the audience there is very different and they like listening to the "filthy and crap music". This is why ARR was like a breath of fresh air to them. I too hope IR tries a few ventures in the Northern arena.
  
  The only Hindi tracks I tend to like are those that ARR has done but all we get is the same songs as in tamil, dubbed and the difference in the perspective is the slight change of singers in the Hindi version.

  Dear Geetha and Swami, IR was to have worked for Subash Ghai for "KARMA" and a Sippy Productions movie , but for some reason he refused at the last moment.
  There is also a rumor that Kamal persuaded IR not to risk his career in Hindi films - i don't know how far this is true.
  But, I personally feel that IR would have wasted his talent in Hindi films.
  A movie like "Lekin" with great classical based music was a flop and the songs become All India Radio
  properties !! Imagine IR doing a Sindhu Bhairavi in Hindi - movie would have bombo bombed.
  moreover, IR would have become so popular that Dawood and co. would have tried pumping bullets into him the way they did to Gulshan Kumar.

  I am told that producers from all corners of the country would stand in a queue outside prasad studios to get a call sheet from raja. i think a lot of his trusted friends, including kamal, must have had the wisdom to advise raja not to get into the don world of hindi films. spirituality in bombay is in the underworld, not in the heavens! Raja's decisions were definitely in line with his genius, a genius never makes mistakes and he has no ambitions, but only an aspiration to sublimate his energies to the paramatma. raja did his duty without looking for rewards, because he has no time and interest in that. big ambitions corrupt your soul and raja is god-send not created by us. he has been sent, he has seen, we are hearing, and he has blessed us with his music. let us be grateful tamilians.
  
  regarding the comment about 'least fortunate' album if the author has given full cd details he must have meant in the positive light. funny that person should not mention raja who is the composer!!!

  Thank you very much for the List of Ilaiyaraaja Kannada films. I have noticed that You have omitted two kannada films i.e Nyaya gedditu and Shikari in the list. And I also notice that Rajkumar movie is not "Nanna neenu gellalare" it is "Nee nanna Gellalare". All the four songs in this film are beautiful and they are sung by Dr.Rajkumar and S.Janaki

  I was just browsing through Shibu's list of Mallu films. Is 'Ezhumalaiyan Mahimai' really a Malayalam film? I hear that it is a Telugu-dubbed movie.
  
  Anyway, I think that all songs in 'Pappayude Swantham Appoose', 'Nee Nanna Gellalare', and 'Boomi Geetha' are great. Btw, what year did NNG release? Some time in the 80s, between '82 and '87 is my hunch???

  I Was wondering if anyone saw the Movie "GRAHAN".. the music score was by Karthik Raja ( IR's son)
  Well.. the thing is.. in the Movie.. there is this particular folk song made as a Background score in the movie.. it appears twice or thrice int he movie.. It was sung by ILA ARUN.. and i wud like to kno if anyone knows how to get tht song (its not in the AUDIO CASSETE of the movie)
