  P. Madhavan was the quintessential director of melodramatic tearjerker that Sivaji specialized in the later part of his career. Perhaps the best movie he directed was Gnana Oli.
  
  Can anyone throw some light on the process of TFM creation in those days? What was the role of the director of star dominated movies in TFM in those days?
