Great songs of IR that don't appeal at first

There are many songs of IR that I never was impressed with, at first hearing. However, later on the tune began haunting me and I was captivated. Some examples are "Nilave vaa" from Mouna Raagam, "Varna Vrindavanam" from Kaliyoonjaalu - I was pretty impatient with these at first, but now they rank among my all time favorites.
On the other hand, you have songs that impress you at first hearing itself like "Thaalaatuthe vaanam", etc. I wonder what it is in the song that makes its appeal slow?
Also, as a composer, how would IR know whether his tune would have a fast or a slow appeal?
I am interested in knowing others' views on this.

most of us didnt like many songs at first appeal coz...we did not watch the movie n the video clip.
its one of IR's supernatural that his tunes fits good to the screenplay of the song....thats why we dont get the touch till we listen to the song while watching the movie.
for me ..i had the same experiance with germanyin senteyn malare in ulasai paravaigal....now i fall in love with that song

Great songs of IR that don't appeal at first are some of the most wonderful composed by him, but sadly ruined by his horrible voice!

Don't they say that if any song that doesn't appeal to you first, then it is a bad song. Now that is the yaar stick to measure ARR. In that case, this thread shouldn't have been there in first place. Great insult to IR.
Actuall, I wanted to post this message addressing it thru raghu. Do NOM for Raghu.

Peeps,
I can understand your dislike of Ilamayenum Poongaatru - abysmal picturisation, nothing else!
I bet you would have heard the song first on TV. I was crazy about this song and used to rank it among IR's all time top 3.....after a long time i came to know how it was picturised!
To draw a parallel in my case, I somehow can never like Pani vizhum malarvanam. Still a friend of me, a big ARR fan who likes only synth music and very little of IR's melodies, was very much sold out on this one and often pestered me to get it for him. Of course, he wasnt aware how much of a letdown the visuals were!

IR's all time greats.
1. Ilaya Nila
2. Ilamai oru poongatru
3. Sendoora poove
Perhaps it was IR's musical arrangement clubbed with his unique melody which has made these songs immortal !
