Kannadasan Kavidhaigal

I thought I will start this forum to discuss the songs written by the great Kannadasan. No comparing with any other poet.

Some of his great songs are
1. Aththikkaai kaai kaai
2. Ponal pohattum poda
3. Pon ontru kanden pen angu illai
4. Mullai malar maele Moikkum vandu pole
5. Aval paranthu ponale
6. Ninaipathellan marandhu villal
7. Enge Nimmathi
8. Kanne Kalaimane
9. Elantha pazham

And so many other songs. I will like to describe each of these in my later mails. Those who are Kannadasan's fans may add to these list. This forum will also discuss his other non movie lyrics.

  Ennai Kavardha Kannadasan,
  
  I see Kannadasan's lyrics as very simple and sweet and have a lot of meanings in very simple words. I could always remember his songs. If I hear it I could reproduce his songs. That I could never do with any other poets. His greatness lies in simplicity.
  
  Kannadasam oru Soha Kavingar(Melancholy Poet). He wrote a lot of sad songs that make you weep. In my opinion, Soham enbhadhu oru suvai. Soham some time puts you down but it can refresh you as well. A lot of people wrote aboute Kannadasan about his Sad songs. So I am not going to start with the same. Let us look at some of his other songs.
  
  Kannadasanin Karpanai vithiyasamanavai. He can compare anything to anything. His lyrics always have a subject to talk about and he always strict to that. It is not Kannukku mai azhaghu and Serruppukku Thol azhaghu.

  Athil Pavaiyarin Kadhai irrukkum.

  Here Kannadasan compares the Coconut Tree to a Girl who takes bath in a river. Andha Pen thalaiyai viriththu Kul'ippadhu pola, Thennaium adhan Il'aiyai virikkutham. Pennin Il'a Neeradudhal Pola Thennai il'aneer tharutham. (He compares il'amai yana Neeraduthalai with thennaiyin il'aneerukkum). Avan pattinil varthaikal vandhu thane vizhum.   The lady who is black and is wed to rich family. They have a big house and a big lawn. In the lawn has a kaNNan statue. This female has no respect as she is black.

  Looking at response to kaNNadasan's kavidhaigal, I am getting a feeling that there are very few to enjoy the lyrics in this Music world.

  lot of things about Kannadhasan's works. Have
