Anyway here is Pakistan and tamil sambantham
Pakistan famous rock band called Junoon,
our great MDS Deva and S.A Rajkumar have lifted songs from their album now that is the sambantham and moreover they are very famous rock band not only in pakistan but also in India.

There is excellent rock in Bengali. A two-abum group called Krosswindz formed and died out in double quick time. Its lead guitarist Nil Mukherjee now plays sessions in Madras. He's one hell of an incredible guitarist and specialises in the sonatas of the Red Monk. Banladesh has some great pop bands too - ne of the most popular is a band calles Crossroads. In 1995 they produced their first album titled "Moushumi" the title track broke all records for 2 years running.
Oh sure there is great scope for real rock in Tamil.
Provided of course the Tamil "Cognoscenti" accept it. And for that we will have to have a "meedai function" chaired by I won't say who (I'll be bludgeoned to death for that)
You will have to have a lengthy line of koojas, who will come up to the stage and touch the master's feet, envelope him with "aalL uyara maalai", and give high flown speeches about how the Master knows everything there is to music, how this music is known to him like everything else. How Mozart and Bach time-traveled into the future and eavesdropped at his recording sessions. And how the BEatles and Bobn Dylan came to him to write down notation etc., etc.,
And then the chief guest will say how we shd have natural music and not fall prey to flashy new stuff. And then another braggart will come up to the stage and say that all the music he needs is the Master's voice and how he doesn't listen to sound engineers!
And then a bunch of guys in TFM wil run a poll on what name/title to anoint the....
C'mon cut it out.
When guys here on this page can't appreciate anything outside their cocoons, who's going to appreciate rock and roll.

University MD is Ramesh Vinayagam - he composed a song for "Yai, Ne Romba Alagha Irukke" and the recent " Nala Damayanti"...

In TI, there are couple of bonus tracks released after the film came out. "thee pidiththa kangal" sung by some guy, I don't remember his name.
Yes, Ramesh vinayagam. He has come up with a rock song (may be not hard-rock) in university. When I listened to it for the first time itself, I liked it. He didn't do a good job in nala damayanthi.

SAR's music cant be classified as from a single country. SAR has global outreach. SAR's music has all styles from all parts of the world. You can find traces of Mozart, Bach to Sufi, Trance, Rap, hip-hop...
The moment you hear SAR's music, you would be taken back in time that reminds you of all thos good times you had.

Dear rock friends, I am a rock guitarist for the past 16 years. I've played in both English and Tamil bands. The Tamil band I played with is a very popular band in Malaysia. I also had my own Tamrock band in the late 90s. I am very glad to see the interest in many young people in rock music and playing guitar. Please keep this up. We need good musicians in the Tamrock scene. I am fed up of listening to one man keyboard bands and people who call them guitarist but can only play 3 chords. There is a lot to playing true rock music. It is not as simple as it seems. Just because the guitar has distortion doesn't make it a rock song. There is also structure involved. Again I hope that "rock bands" will take Tamil rock music to another level and not just copy popular songs and Malay songs like one band did. Up the Irons !!
