Each year has been special for a.r. 2002 was year of Bombay Dreams. 1997 was the year he released Vande Mataram album. 1995 was the year he released his first ever Hindi original album- Rangeela. Also the year Muthu was released; his first combination wit rajini. 2001 saw the release of Lagaan which went all the way to Academy Awards nominees list and gave him his first NA for a Hindi film. 1996 saw the release of Fire, first English film to have bgm by a.r.
Still to come...2004 BD in Broadway and Paani, a HW movie by Shekar Kapoor. 2003 may be full of surprises too.
do add on...

Good one WN...but I personnaly feel that his best year is yet to come...with all HW movies and Indian movies making in big in the world arena and as an Indian he will wave his hand high and say to this worlds "vandemataram...."
That day is not far away and for that ARR has to move out from this Ranji trophy matches and play real cricket out there in pacy, brouncy tracks....
Well not crickets really..but I believe U understood what I say...not like some who will consider them self Gyani and ridicule this statement.
I presume that you know whom I mean here..

well....have anyone watched Dangerous Minds (Michelle Pfeifer)..
it's soundtrack has a song with a heavy indian classical touch...not sure abt the BGM...
will ARR come up with such a creation...hope he does...
and let the world know who AR(R)E looking at...
anyway, i did my part of promo for BD in broadway...i told a friend of mine in New York...he's from seatle...and he works in NY...when we were abt talking Andrew Llyod Webber....i told him abt ARR...he was surprised...to hear that..such a successful person like ALW...is getting ARR to compose his musical....
and i told him..that the musical might hit Broadway soon...and he is eager to watch it...
an American..is so eager to see and praise and Indian....
but Indian.....mmmmpphhh .....Vande Mataram!

The probs with Indian is Indians....
The same feeling is what IR fans also have..they also long of IRs recognition world wide..Well completely logical and correct and I too want to see the day when people study music as a phenomenon of IR...but what has IR done to himself to make world talk about him...
Here we have a live example as ARR who reaches out to the other world..so alien to many in this country untill recently.
And only because of the endevour and passion to excell that even curriculums in far away land like Newzealand has ARR's name in it as a subject of study...
BD is a great thing to happen for Indian music industry...ARR said that he would like to see the day when many Indian musicans make it easyly into that worls..he said so during that KV promo interview and believe me it is HE and only HE who has open the doors for others...no body else in this 50 years..how ever great they might be for their respective fans.

I forgot to add...1997 the year Minsara Kanavu was released, getting a.r. his 2nd NA and also sweeping the NAs for both male & female singers, for SPB & Chitra. 2000, the year he was conferred the Padmashree title for his achievement in music.
Correct me if I am wrong in any of these.

How come MADDY can go around swearing in vulgarity?
Why is that the matha farkers from ARR camp find it disgusting when others use vulgarity but not when MADMAN(boy/gal/eunuch?) MADDY use it?
