unnal mudiyum thambi..

hi,
Happen to see unnal mudiyum thambi in ktv y day. After a long time i had the opportunity to watch such a classic film. though i had watched several times, its evergreen. characterization is excellent. credit goes to KB and illayaraja for his master piece music which is another gem in his crown. All songs were classical based and its only mastero who could blend carnatic with semi classical music.

the message of the film is ultimate, and its sad that these kind of films didn't make a box office hit.

  But somehow I didn't like SPB's singing in this film.. any of the songs. Compare with SindhuBhairavi.

  Was this movie remake of Chiranjeevi's "Rudra Veena" ? The telugu version also had Gemini Ganeshan playing Chiranjeevi's father , music was composed by Illayaraja and KB directed the film.

  Did you listen to SPB's akkam pakkam paaradha.. song? That is a great song and well rendered by SPB! How could you not like the way SPB sang 'idhazhil kadhai ezhudhum'?!

  Agreed to what you said. Great singing, good rendition by SPB. But somehow, I could not like the songs, as I would have liked to. The songs in the Telugu version were more enjoyable to me.

  Its a classic by KB inspired from the life and works of MS Udhyamurthy.
  An interesting read about this movie is mentioned in Udhayamurthy's autobiography Ennai sethukiya Yennagal.

  Its bad to compare legends. Both SPB and yesudas were legends. They have their own way. As rightly pointed out by Cho, the "ethazil kathai ezuthum " song is one right example of illayaraja's genius and SPB's romantic voice. Even, "unnal mudiyum thambi" song would motivate any. such is the voice modulation of SPB.

  sorry, what I meant, was Shankaraparanam is far far better than Sindhu Bhairavi, thanks to our GREAT KVM & Dr.SPB, soulful rendertion by the greatest!
  
  Sindhu bhairavi could come in 2nd place after shankaraparanam, but SB is much better than Unnal Mudiyum thambi
  
  How can you NOt like 'Ithazhil kathai ezhuthum enram ithu' superb gamaks by the greatest SPB :)
