IR with MR again?!

Dear Friends,

Yesterday's Maalai Malar Cinema Malar (July 5, 2001) says that MR and IR are joining again as if it is a confirmed news and that the hero will be Surya. The same news was put up in www.tamilcinema.com too. What do you all think about the reality of this news?

  it will not! if its released in all theatres in madras! the people who go to watch it will be approx the same! the people spread over 5 weeks will just see it in the first week itself!

  honestly these r the veryu same words that came to my mind when i saw ur responses.
  
  i will just go this far reg movie prints. ITS NOT EXPENSIVE. infact ITS NOT EVEN THE THEATRE OWNERS MONEY. its not even the distributors money. All this r involved in the production cost.
  
  somy point was to contradict your points
  1) movie rolls r expensive
  2) if they were cheap they wud release it in every theatre and so it will run more
  3) people will neccesarily buy cassattes or go to movies based on promos and brand values... and their intelligence input to watch the film is non-existent
  
  for your # 1 I said movie riolls r not expensive
  for your #2 I said that is not impossible to try but its just not profitabel as you think so
  for your # 3 I gave pandian as an example amply supported by STS and nakyama with many other examples that people will reject star valued products if they dont like it!
  
  so I dont think i can spell out any explanation much better than this!
  
  and as for pirated casttaes. My brother also owned a cassatte shop in palyamkottai, nellai distr. and u have no clue as to how effective anti piracy methods r existant. u sell 1 pirated cassatete and ur head rolls out next day! ( i'm exaggeratring) but other than police watch the distributors have their priv.ppl to watch over cassatte selling also.
  
  infact the cassattes u see in palani etc and they way u say it make it sound as if in india only such cassattes r sold etc..is overstating . Nopirated casassate still acnt for less than 1 % of the sales.

  After making a point, I can't go making point... My posting was only against the part what you said (in italics).
  
  inspite of rajinikanth and all the hype and ho ho KR/IR's music What is your point here? Did KR/IR hyped it? My point was not to bring IR or his family unnecessarily as if they are doing this. That tastes bad. That's all.

  I think from my prev posting u know that I didnt mean that! I was just trying to enforce the point that inspite of hype a product may flop (infact it mostly does) and I quoted "pandian" bcoz, Rajini IR were Big names and also KR's first composition was reasonably hyped. and traditional to SP muthuraman style he made big nooises abt the nothing film. according to eden those big noises generates crowd into theatres which was untrue! thats all!
  
  and eden also misuderstood my "pandian" point. I guess it came in 1992 diwali with "thevar magan" et all. it ran for like 5 weeks average. if as per eden it was released in all theatres. I dont suppose it wud run for all theatres for 5 weeks. it wud probably run for 4-5 days at max and every one wudve seen it in that time frame! and that doesnt mean that the movie wud be declared a a hit!

  WHEN DIRECTOR Maniratnam went to Apollo Hospital last week, one wondered again if it was to do with matters of the heart. Was it dil se? Indeed it was. Though there were a lot of versions floating around about what exactly was the problem, a close aide said that most of it was stress-related and doctors had advised rest.
  
  The director who went into hospital on Sunday morning is `doing fine' now and has been transfered to the ward. ``He had gone through a lot of stress and the best antidote recommended for that was rest, which is what he is getting now,'' they said.
