in recent times, very rarely this greatest living genius sings in tamil movies.everybody knows he can sing any type of song with consummate ease.his voice is god's gift.nowadays he sings very rarely.Is it because that he dominated the tamil film industry for two decades or more that other's should sing? there are several lakhs of spb fans in tamil nadu. he is much more a tamil than a telegu. he lives in chennai only.evertime an album comes,people throng the music shop to find out whether spb is there but get dissapointed.please answer.

  Mahesh....if I have a history of diabetes in my family..I definitely wont do the above...the point is in today's industry and times it is better to maintain your statis by doing fewer quality stuff...the industry has become too large for one man takes all.

  diabetics always like to have icecreams. spb has feded tfm with sweet music and voice. it is suffering from diabetic. naturally diabetics would like to have it more (harmful to body is ok. but not to tfm)the industry has actually shrunk and not too large.

  I think that the MD's should give more songs 2 SPB,cos billions of people r dying to hear this legend's voice, ARR used SPB in his first couple of films, (Roja, Gentlmen,Duet) to gain a place 4 him in the music industry,as that time (early 1990's), IR was the don, Arr was a chinna paiyan, so once ARR has used SPB 2 gain a place 4 him in the music industry( so selfish of ARR), arr then bought in the hey fewer sufferers like Hariharan, Unnikrishnan, Srinivas.
  
  ARR gives most of the bad songs 2 SPB, cos he knows that even the tunes r bad, if SPB signs it, it will be a super dooper hit, hence he gives all the good songs to Heyfever sufferers, like Hariharan, Unnikrishnan,Udi narayan & srinivas, all of these heyfever sufferers turn into a women, once the reach to high pitch in any songs, funny is not it???

  I am just so upset 2 c people who do not have any sense in music(A.A) talks of junk singers like Udit, Hariharan, Shanker mahadevan, Sukvinder singh. these nasalist only survive in music world cos of ARR, he is the one who introduced these nasalist to TFM. although ARR introduce some good singers like Unni Krishnan, Unni menon, SPB.Pallavi, Anuradha Sriram, Sujatha.
  
  Dr. SPB is the one & only intermes of :
  
  1. Most beautiful voice, that is so sweet
  2. most divine voice
  3. ability to modulate extremly well
  4. Ability to sing from rock to classical without any difficulties
  5. his voice is so sweet when he talks as well
  6. He talks 4 so many actors, if the films are dubbed in other languages (Kamal, Mohan)
  7. Famous Music director
  
  I do not know if any body realises the fact that SPB has directed for 25 films!!!,(Sigaram, Thodikum karangal) that is an awful lot 4 a singer , out of all 25 he directed they were all super hit.
  
  I know for fact that S. Janaki directed for one film in tamil.
  
  Questions:
  
  1) How many films did M.rafi direct music for?
  2) How many films did KJY direct music for?
  3) how many films did TMS direct music for?
  4) how many films did hariharan direct music 4?
  5) how many films did lata or Kishor kumar direct for?
  
  I need answers !!!
  
  also that AA idiot says that "the nasalist Udit's khaal thoosu SPB, when it comes 2 melody", that just shows how stupid & idiotic he is when it comes to music!!!.
  
  I can not imagine IFM without SPB, it would stink like shit!!

  You talk about music sense, but your posting doesnt convey that unfortunately.
  
  Empty ended statements such as "Most divine voice" can be best avoided.
  To each fan , this statement holds true for his idol.
  Dont bring in irrelevent comparisons. Most of these singers you have mentioned (including SPB) have made a mark that stands out.
  
  SPB is a by product of the system (IFM). By talking ill of this system, you dont do any good service to music.
  
  I dont think most of us have the "tagudi" to talk ill about Lata, Rafi, TMS... SPB

  I agree with you, Manithan is off the track here, but one must be a 'gnana Sooniyam' to compare the likes of the HFM jokere, with the excemption of greats like M.Rafi, KK, M.Kapoor, ..etc with great personality like SPB!

  North Indians will always die for rafi Sahab, tamilians will die for SPB and Mallus will die for KJY. There is not a specific meaning to quantify skills in Indian film music as we have diversified languages with diverse cultures and moods. Still, based on the overall skills, my vote is for KJY followed by SPB and then Rafi. I said "Good Joke!" because there is no point in saying "Lord of Indian Film music" and not because SPB isn't a great singer. He is indeed great, and there are are some arenas of playback singing in which he only can excel.
  
  It is better to say KJY, SPB and Rafi are gems in IFM!

  Moreover, Hindi film singers are not jokers. Eventhough I am a mallu, I can read, speak and understand Hindi and Tamil well. Those singers suit the hindi film moods with their voice and expression and once can't assert (direct/indirect) that every human voice should be designed like Dr.SPB's, else it isn't a good voice!. This statement is a perfect example of blind adoration.
  
  Dr.KJY, Dr.SPB and Rafi Sahab has got excellent (divine)voices and singing talents which identifies them from the rest.But, the others (who are described as nasalists here - Hariharan, Unni, Shankar, Udit) has their own voices and techniques which make them well appreciated in India, though not close to the previous trio.
  
  Hariharan only can do justice to the song Yeh Dhoop Ek Safar...(Dhoop)and pachai nirame..(alaipayuthe)
  
  Nadiye..from Rhythm was nicely sung by Shanker. I don't understand why people call him nasal. His voice indeed is not nasal.
  
  How beautifully Unni has sung the song Roja Roja..had it been SPB then???
  
  Udit's tamil pronounciation is bad, but his hindi songs like Ee Ajnabi..and Ee mere humsafar..are really good.
  
  Hari, Unni and Udit may have nasal tinge in voices at high pitches, but what matters is that whether it is pleasant to the ears or not.
  
  India should be proud to have the legends KJY, SPB and Rafi, at the same time, we need the voices of others to enjoy the diversity!
