yesterday was a sad day for all of tamil filmdom. ananthu passed away. for those who haven't heard of him, he was the unsung hero of several successes, the behind-the-scenes mastermind who
moulded and nourished several personalities (eg: kamal and K Balachander), someone who cherished his anonymity, ironically in a world where everyone wants a share of the limelight.
rich tributes were paid to this great man on SUN TV. among them was poet vaali's. he described ananthu's contribution to tamil films in one word: kamalhasan. "kamalahaasanai intha naattukku
vazhangiyavare avarthan enru sollalaam,' enru vaali sonnaar.
kamal, in all his bearded marudhanayagam glory, also spoke at length on the relationship he shared with his "cinema muni".
i think it's only fair that we at newtfmpage pay tribute to this great man, who chose to remain unknown during his lifetime, but will be remembered as long as tamil films are around.

I saw the Film "Sigaram" and the 1 hour tribute
that followed on Ananthu. That is when I realised
what a great contribution he has made. How come
he managed to remain so unknown ?

Ananthu had passed away quite a while agao. Even the movie "Aaha" was dedicated to him with his foto with garland, on the opening scene. It probably was a memorial day yesterday.
Please correct if I am wrong.

even in the marudhanayagam function(the one with the queen) kamal , while pointing out that balachandar didn't come, said that ananthu would have come , but he went to his padaippali(lord) , and balachandar didn't come due to some padaippalis...

A short course on History and the Press
The phrase "The King is dead. Long Live the King." is an very British and actually means: "The King (who was ruling) is dead. Long Live the (new) King."
What I think Cram was trying to say was that even if Ananthu is dead, let his memories live on.
No pun or kindal was intended, I'm quite sure.

Friends,
Ananthu died sometime back. The pgm on sun tv was
aired only on Nov.7 as it was Kamal's birthday
and Nov 8 was Ananthu's Bday and Nov-9 Kavithaalaya
Krishnan's bday. KK mentioned this with tears.
(This posting is just for the benefit of those who
did not watch that pgm)
The documentary(right word.?) was produced on behalf
of KAmal and Sarika by some D.FTech guys.. Kamal told
that Ananthu was the one who signed for his marriage
at reg. office (other notable person present was Sivaji)
(The Apoorva sahodarargal - Roopini-Appu- reg.office
scene was shown accordingly; where Ananthu appears
as registrar. He makes fun of Kamal in that Scene)
So the pgm was a tribute by Kamal for ANanthu and also
mentioned that Marudanaayagam will be dedicated to Ananthu... (surprised to see Sarika in tears..)
In Guna - ananthu appears inside Jail shouting
Abirami etc which Kamal picks up (if I am right)
Kamal also told how the punnagai mannan story was
developed..(After seeing Marocharitra a guy+lover tried
suicide after love failure but the guy did not die
but ended up in jail for suicide attempt..) Kamal
met this guy when visiting a jail with Amithab.
This was informed to Ananthu by Kamal.. Ananthu
told KB and Kb immediately started the project..
thus goes the story...
Behind every KB movie and Kamal movie the hand/advice
of Ananthu was there...
Long live Ananthu pukaz ..!!
