C V, 'Nee thaana nesanthaana' is from 'Naallellaam Pournami'-1986 stg. Prabhu and Ranjini. The song is sung by KJY-Chitra. The song has a pathos version too, a KJY solo, which goes 'Poongkaatre, poongkaatre poravale poonkuyile paarthiyaa'. MD-Gangai Amaran

1. 'Enadhu vaazhkkai paadhayil'- is from Moham 30 varusham- I have mentioned this song while discussing 'Sangeetham ragangal illamala' in VJ thread- Md-Vijaybhaskar.

2.Vacha paarvai theeradhadi is from 'Ilamai kolam'-1980. Long back, in a sirappu thenkinnam, KJY referred to this song and said that though he had sung the lovely classical 'Sridevi en vaazhvil' from the same film, his sons liked only 'Vacha paarvai theeradhadi'! Md-Illayaraja

1. Thirumal perumaikku nigaredhu (to describe all 10 avathars of Lord Vishnu)... a great song by TMS in 2 different records. Totally around 9 mins.

2. Auru padai veedu konda thiru muruga by Seergazhi. This was to describe the permumai's of 6 houses of Lord Muruga (from Kandan karuNai). It was the song as the last scene... but wonder that people were sticking to their seat till the last line of the song.

3. From ThuNaivan... by TMs & PS... "Marudha malayaane naangaL vaNangum perumaane"... many temples of Lord Muruga were described..

4. Naane varuven ingum angum.. from "yaar nee" by PS.. heart-beating song..

And many of old songs were of this 2 records type. Old is always gold naa!

I guess so Geeth. In olden days, many lengthy songs came in 2 diff records.

Thirumal perumaikku.... is from "Thirumal perumai" (Sivaji, Padmini, KRV, Sowcar starred in that)

In Hindi I can quote a song " O Raaju, I love
you..." rendered affectionately by SPBS and a child in a 1981 Hindi film "Ek Hi Bhool".

C V- I saw that your query had already been answered, that's why I didn't reply. Venkatesh is right- 'Thuppakki kaiyil eduthu' is from 'Kodai Mazhai'. - It was for a dance song by Vidya, who was called afterwards as 'Kodai mazhai' Vidya.

Kodai Mazhai-1986 was a film from the Muktha House. Directorial debut of Mukta Sundar. It had special appearances by Jaishankar, Sripriya, Saritha, Chinna Veedu Anu etc. Another classical gem from the film is 'Kaatrodu kuzhalin naadhamey'-KSC.

Yes! I remember 'MaNippayal' as the film with Master Shekhar. It was a remake of the earlier 'aNNI' with mild atheism in it. I think Master shekhar starts abusing God and even burns something once he learns that his pet goat has been sacrificed by the pujari! It also had a beautiful Sirkali number 'KaanchiyilE oru Buddhan piRanthaan...aNNaa, aNNaa.. etc.,'

varuvai maa mugile
-- This is a great song sung by SJ. I can't remember the name of the movie. Actress rajalakshmi sings that in the movie. Does anybody know?

2.gyan gyan padanum -- a malayalam song by Jency in the movie poonthalir. An excellant song by IR.

3.kannukkum kannukkum modhal - KJY song from movie ninaikka therindha maname - superb archestration and a nice song

4.Pani mazhai vizhum paruva kulir ezhum -- by Jency and deepan chakravarthi from movie enakkaga kaathiru

5.nee pournami endrum en jenjile -- What a song!. An unbelievable song by IR/KJY from movie Oruval vazhum aalayam

C V - I'm sorry I didn't see your query earlier.
But I feel you are mixing up two films- both Master Shekhar starrers- Thanga durai-1972 and Manippayal-1973. Thanga durai was the film wih Master S and the goat (Vaada kanne vellaadu-LRE).

EKK-you are right. That (Thanga simizh pol-Manippayal) was Jayachandran's first song in tamil films, followed by 'Ponnenna poovenna'-Alaigal, both 1973.

Idli- 'Kodi inbam meni engum paaindhadhammamma'- this lovely song is from 'Nenjilaadum poovondru'-an unreleased film. Excellent songs by IR. Other great songs from it are 'Marudha manjakkizhangu'-SPB-VJ and 'Oru moodan kathai sonnaan'-MVD.

x-the 'Vazhi mel vizhiyaai' song is from 'Archanai Pookal' I think. SJ at her best.

SJ's 'Engey engey sugham engey' was the best, followed by Mano-KSC's 'Or poo madhu'.
