  Echo,
  
  How do I configure media player to play files in those sites. My media player complains "Catastropic failure" (Microsoft doesn't have much help on Catastropic failure" or ir complains "file not found or check the file name". Can you tell me what should be the proxy/no proxy settings, TCP/UDP ports/protocols, etc.,etc.
  
  I have never been able to play anything from NUMTV.COM, but mediaplayer is working with other sites.

  his music !) nowadays. I don't think he has conscience.May be he qualifies to become a politician soon.

  1. Make sure u have the latest version, (anything 6.4.xxx is ok), if u dont download from microsoft site. (There is a option in Help menu, "Check for player upgrade"
  2. If u behind the firewall (i.e. ur computer not directly connected to the net), and u are able to use net via browsers, goto View->Options->Advanced->Streaming Video(Double Click)->Enable all the protocols, in HTTP option choose "Use Browser proxy settings". Then it should work.
  3. If about didnt help download MusicMatch Free Software, It can play Windows Media file.(u can play MP3 songs and convert songs from CD into MP3 files too). The link is http://www.musicmatch.com/cgi-bin/upgrade/upgrade
  
  U got to remember u need 56K connection for their recorded programs.

  If you are behind the firewall, do whatever Echo has specified and it should work provided your Network Admin has opened up the incoming/outgoing UDP traffic on Port 1755 ( not sure about the port number, MS web site should have it).
  
  If not, you will need to request your admin to open up that port. The .ASX file has a reference to MMS protocol (save the file to disk and type it and see - you will see something like MMS://IPADDRESS/Sun.asx) and MMS protocol uses port 1755.
  
  Also, if NumTV were to be running their server with HTTP streaming support enabled, then you wouldn't have to do anything, it should work just as fine with what Echo has told (without your Admin having to open up port 1755). Unfortunately, I can't figure out if they support HTTP streaming or not ( you can probably ping the helpdesk on it).
  
  has anyone streamed NumTV content from inside a firewall without having your admin open up port 1755? If so, probably they do support HTTP Streaming.

  Prakash, I didn't have that much of a problem. It was poor quality but the motion was good. If anyone of you are living in foreign countries than the video tapes of these programs are available at tamil A/V stores.

  ID user number is the password that you recieve after you have done sign up. They sent it to your mail. And I haven't had any problems with getting into the interview. ARR did all the talking so it was interesting. I believe they just asked him the questions off air and then let him answer it. Some parts of it was a bit irritating because he would start to say something and then swallow the last word and so on. For the most part it was good. And I was lucky enough that the motion of the video was good.
  
  If you get a dialogue box saying that it won't open, try clicking a few times. I had that problem initially too. But after I tried to play the video about three times it worked. I don't know why I had that problem though.

  The interview is accessible since today (18-April-2000) morning. I listened to ARR and VM interview. VM talks good. He speaks what he believes in and speaks more softly without hurting anyone. VM mentions IR as Ilaiya Raja (No 'Isai gnani', no 'Maestro' or even no 'Sir'. Well difficult to change this guy). He mentions about IR two times in the interview. Once about 'tik tik tik' and second time about some other movie. ARR's interview? Was that interview. Instead listen to songs. I thought of digitizing from Sun TV and upload the same but have to wait for a total of one hour. Instead you might goto www.numtv.com and listen. If you are first time user sign up and login once you get your password.
  
  After login in click on Sun TV. Goto Recorded programs and click on ARR interview.

  STS, iam curious - why should'nt IR be called as "Ilaiya Raja"????? u know the way IR calls SPB in public - "Dei bala".... and Kamal says "Raja".... look, all these guys (VM, IR) came into the field more or less at the same time and worked for years together..... maybe VM wants him to be called as whater KAVI nonsense, but i feel, there is nothing wrong in saying "Ilaiya Raja"....

  It is also known that SPB/Jesudas calls IR as 'Dei ...'. They are still good friends. The problem comes when VM calls especially a senior person like IR without any respect. (Vayasukku kooda mariyathai illiaye sami!). SPB/KJY logic applies to Kamal as well. Well Raja may mean 'King' also.
