  After Vallarusu and Narasimha, Captain Cine Creations have come out with their third venture Thennavan. Vijaykanth appears in a different character, that of an election officer. " It's a sophisticated character which no actor has done so far. Common social problems are dealt with in this film," says Vijaykanth.
  
  A huge jail set has been erected at the Prasad studios for a fight sequence between Ponnambalam and Vijaykanth. A tussle with the local landlord (Nasser) lands Thennavan in to jail. "This jail set cost us 25 Lakhs. There are four fight sequences on this set including one with police Ponnambalam," explains Vijaykanth.
  
  Kiran plays the female lead in the film. Thennavan meets a Delhi-based girl Divya and becomes friendly to her. She helps him in his entire endeavor. For the "Vinodhane.. Vinodhane.." song where Vijakanth dances with Kiran , a host of 500 dancers and 3000 junior artistes have been used which is unheard in the recent times. Songs have been picturised in the outdoor locales of Pollachi, Vizag , Orissa and Jodhpur. For the first time Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for Vijaykanth. Brinda is the dance choreographer. Other artistes in the film are Vivek, Urvasi, Mansoor Ali Khan, Ravichandran etc. While Ramesh Kumar handles the camera Nandakumar directs the film. "It is a film for the future generations" says the producer L.K.Sudhish, Thennavan is slated for August 15th release.
