O Baba Laali Kanmani laali.... can someone put some more lyrics to explain the current pathetic situation in TFM! Please, where do people (like those GVManirathnam and other self acclaimed movie makers) appreciate the years when we had a deluge of 50 IR movies with 250 songs and did not know how to enjoy even one completely and complained that TFM was going to dogs because MSV was beaten out by some pattikattaan (now Lord IR). Now people are willingg to even lap up crap of Deva, SARajkumar and our Baba Rahman. But, what about the music that many of us need to have peace of mind, (which only IR and pre-IR era gave) and a forum like this going? The Maestro please wake up and save us all with your film music again. We now know your value now.....

Sir,
The Maestro was always awake! We only forgot him and ran behind someone else! Now, why ask Him to wake up? He is already in full form!
Don't worry! Manasellam, En Mana Vaanil & Ramana will follow soon and keep us happy!

IR is sleeping with his two eyes opened for last ten years, so people like Naansense should wake up and come to terms with reality.

Come on whatever KR and YSR are getting would have gone to IR. He is not completely involoved in Film Music these days. Infact he is little more selective. Maniratnam benefitted more from IR than viceversa. Ex. Pagal Nilavu, Mouna Raagam, Idhayathai Thirudathe, Agni Natchathiram, Idhaya Kovil, Anjali, Nayagan, Dhalapathi. On the other hand ARR benefited more from ManiRatnam than viceversa. Bharathi Raja beneifitted more from IR than viceversa. But Neither ARR nor BR benefitted from each other. Balachander benefitted more from IR than viceversa. Ex. Sindhu Bhairavi, Punnagai Mannan, Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal. Balachander didn't benefit from ARR that much as his Duet was not that successful Parthale Paravasam was a failure. 15% of Fazil movie success should go to IR. Directors were able to take up new challenges, since IR songs would always back them up just in case the story is not welcome. Nobody is as dominating as IR was in 80s. He has scored very well for Ivan. Sudha Ragunathan is incredible in that. IR fans will always exist. Because he has created lasting impact in everybody with his wide range of music.
But for IR i wouldn't have had the pleasure of listening to the versatility of KJY in tamil. For that alone IR should be commended.

a, pattikattaan doesn't necessarily mean you live in the village. Here I am referring to People who have low moral & bad attitude(like you). In fact people who lives in the villages have more humanity than city people. So don't jump into conclusion !!!

ST,
Your statement and justifications are totally wrong. City folks use the term 'Pattikaattaan' just to feel better.
Morale, Value, Ethics, Humanity, Respect and all good values can be learnt from village folks only. Ignorance doesn't mean you can take things for granted.

Ilayaraja's BGM is awesome. He is the only music director in the history of Indian cinema who knows how to create the background score for the movie. BGMs started becoming an crucial part of the movieonly after Ilayaraja entered the scene. I need not speak about thousands of melodious songs he gave. He is in perfect form in Lajja.. whether it is 'Kaun Dagar' or BGM.. his music is a treat to ears. Few scenes like the beginning scenes on Manisha, Madhuri's humiliation, and Rekha's scene in the end, bear the stamp of Ilayaraja. But I couldn't hear the signature tune I heard in the trailors. It was very nice.. and I don't know why Santoshi didn't use it in the film.
Certainly, one more feather in the cap for Maestro.
And to the above AR Rahman fan.. go and find your self a AR Rahman's board. Don't compare Maestro with kids. Your favourite ARR himself agreed that he is a kid before Ilayaraja. No one is discussing about ARR here.Get out of this place.
hi..
i wanted to post some messege about the movie...well i am not from south india and i am not a musician...i have listened to arr rehman a lot and some illayaraj..but today i take pains to spend some time and search the web for illayaraj...what a music thus man made for lajja ..i want bothered about hindhi music which is all crap...and it got better by the introduction of arr..agreed..he is good...but to the person who posted anything about bgms in lagaan ,taal..and so forth..u have NO IDEA OF WHAT A BGM IS!!!!
let me gimme u some tips ...just find a website which i think is "www.raaja.com" and listen to the ngms listed there..u'll find that u are not in this earth...it reminds me so much of bach..this guy is something..its s pity we north indians were not aware of this phenonmenon..because there is no one to show us what is music..ne is r.d burman .s.d burman...they were good but only in the composing of songs which were melodous ..but what is the musicians part of it ..nothing..it all depended on tunes and singers..thats it...
just take some time and listen to his compositions..all the music directors of today can kneel down before him and just surrender...the concept of interludes....wow does anybody heard that in our hindhi music ...just listen to him...and the fact that he composes without playing them once..he is a genius guys....rehman is good in the techno stuff..but illayaraja...is a genius..in the range obach and beethoven...comparing him with rehmaan is embaraassing rehman...he know it too...
well thanx a million for the movie lajja ...it made me realise there is a phenomenon in india which i didnt know till now..
thanx
