Yes, Kumar, the cassettes and cd's are available, together with another ARR release, Mona Lisa. The distributors have been advertising at a furious pace over our local radio. The songs seem to be like the usual ARR fare and as usual need to be listened many times before they can cause an impact! :-)) I am not investing my money in it yet!!!

I saw Ratchakan last week.
The movie was so bad that I could not even sit in the theater.
Reg. songs couple of them are Ok. I will rate them as avg.
Re recording was so bad.
Overall the movie was a waste.
Cheers

To all those anxiously looking forward to Ratchakan songs, here is a site you may want to visit:
http://www.gentlemanfilmktk.com/
I have bought the cassette due to pressure from the advertisers ;-)) and my children (the oldest of whom is not more that five and a half!) who are ardent fans of ARR. My opinion? As I have mentioned before, most ARR songs do not impress me until I have heard them many, many times! Ratchakan songs are the same too, therefore I can't do a fair evaluation until much later. If you insist on knowing something (just anything) here goes...
1. Soniya Soniya - A fast number with intermitent repetitions of the words "love attack."
Performed by Udith Narayanan, Unnikrishnan & Harini
Lyrics by Vairamuthu
2. Bombay, Madras, Delhi - Another fast number
Performed by Gopal & Kavitha Poudwal
Lyrics by Vaali
3. Chandiranei thottathu yaar - a pleasing slow tune - will probably become as popular as Vennilavey, vennilavey
Performed by Hariharan & Sujatha
Lyrics by Vairamuthu
4. Lucky, Lucky - I haven't listened to it enough times yet! ;-)
Performed by SP Bala, Sukvinder Singh & Swarnalatha
Lyrics by Vairamuthu
5. Nenjey nenjey - I haven't listened to it enough times yet! ;-)
Performed by KJ Jesudass & Sadhana Sargam
Lyrics by Vairamuthu
6. Kaiyil mithakkum - I haven't listened to it enough times yet! ;-)
Performed by Shreeni
Lyrics by Vairamuthu
7. Poagum vazhiyellaam - I haven't listened to it enough times yet! ;-)
Performed by Chitra
Lyrics by Vairamuthu
8. Mercury pookal - A fast number with intermitent repetitions of the words "we want power, veindum veindum veindum power." The only song that caused an immediate impact - like Pettai rap and Hello doctor (not the music but the instant impact!)
Performed by Anuphama & Swarnalatha
Lyrics by Vaali

The song no 3 in the above list has the same beats
of "paree hun mein...." by sunita rao.Probably she
got inspired from ARR(note-this album was released at least 2 years back). Is it OK mr.arun ?

I just received a copy of RAKSHAGAN and it sounds awful. None of the songs have an appeal like ARR's past compositions. The recording quality is suprisingly mediocre compared to other ARR songs.
A waste of money.

I just got Rakshagan, this weekend. As an album it reminded me of Kaadhalan.
For the kind of movie as should be expected, it has wide variety, from instant chart-buster (Soniya..Soniya, has topped charts already) like Mukkala to haunting melodies (Nenje..Nenje.. and Kaiyil Midhakkum) like Ennavale to be talked about for years to come and pleasing songs in between (Chandiranai and Pogum Vazhi).
If you like ARR's music you will not be disappointed. If you don't, you won't be surprised either. It should be surprise to no one again, it is going to be another Mega-Hit.

The background beats of one song,i don't remember the lyrics (thanks to the awkward pronunciation)is a direct lift from sunita rao's paree hun mein.I really feel bad about the songs but for the catchy number soniya..soniya..
The background score for the movie is as usual poor. Our man has started lifting BGMs also. There r
few pieces which reminds me of the 'speed' and 'broken arrow' BGMs (especially those chasing scenes).

An overstatement mr.Rajendhiran.Only sonia is popular the rest of them are so-so.Esp that lucky lucky song. The song is sung by SPB in the movie. But the singer kills tamil by his awkward pronunciation. Why can't ARR allow SPB to sing for himself (atleast)?? (just my opinion)
- From: NOV (@ 202.184.134.10)
on: Thu Nov 20 04:15:26 EST 1997
Shankar - Lucky Lucky is sung by Sukvinder Singh AND SP Bala. Poor Balu - he has only about 4 to 5 lines in the song!
It seems to be the trend nowadays to get non-Tamil-speaking (& understanding) singers to sing the songs.
I must say, IR started this trend by using Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. ARR merely polished this! :-)))
Rajendiran - Ratchakan? Super hits of 1997? Yengeyoa idikithu! Give me Nerukku Ner or VIP instead.

Shankar - Don't get too serious-lah! Anavasiyamaa tensionaagaringa.
I loved Asha's rendition of Shenbagamey but was put off by Lata's pronunciation in Valaioasai kalakala (Satya). Maybe IR tried to prove something by getting Lata to sing such a difficult song.
As far as engengey song, I just FF the cassette! (The irony is Kitcha - a well known IR-fanatic-Deva-hater, likes this song!)
As for Ratchakan songs, I have listened to them countless times and they are finally catching on! But still no comparison to Minsara Kanavu or even Kathal Desam.

I agree with you. IR made a blunder in giving 'vaLaiyOsai' to Lata. I am of an opinion that Lata herself is too over-rated nowadays because of her outstanding perfomance in the 60s-70s.
One more thing. Beleive it or not. I too like 'engengE' to a certain extent!!! It is not as bad as 'akila', 'thummal' and 'varuvALA'.

NOV:
i liked the song "Valaiosai" verymuch when the film was released and even now i like it. i don't think her pronunciation was that bad. the song well suited with Amala's character in Satya. In which she is a malayalee girl and talking tamil in a cute way. i like non-tamilian girls when they try to talk in tamil. somewhat i think it's cute. may be you will think they're killing the language. may be this is the reason why i like this song very much:))
