A R Rahman has always been lucky for actor Arjun. His blockbuster film, directed by Shankar (debut for Shankar), Gentleman, was a run away hit. Arjun who had done 40 Kannada films and 20 Telugu films and a couple of Tamil films came to limelight only after Shankar's Gentleman. Then came, Mudhalvan and Rhythm, which were damn good musically too. Arjun has always proved himself as one of the finest actors and still looks quite young though in his 40's. He has also proved he can be a good director, though not the best with; Vedham, Jai Hind, Ezhumalai and now Parasuram. (Formerly, known as Ashoka and then Chanakya and confirmed the title with Parasuram. Parasuram was to be directed by Malayalam director, Shaji Kailas, but now Arjun has directed it. It stars, Arjun, Kiran, Gayathri Raghuram, Raghuvaran, Rajeev, Goundamani, Kalabhavan Mani and others. The music is by A R Rahman and lyricist Vairamuthu. The movie planned as a big budget film is supposed to have an aggressive schedule.
It seems 7 songs were recorded for this film long back and a song has been replaced with another one, which has been sung by Arjun himself. It is also rumoured that Arjun is composeing music for a movie that he is directing. Arjun, though being a Tamil actor for a long time, he is not cent percent successful in hiding his Kannada accent. I can make out because I am a Kannadiga too. Hope, that dores not reflect in his singing too. Anyway Arjun we welcome you. It seems that Arjun's Arasakshi, starring Arjun, Lara Dutta and S.Vee Shekhar, will have music by Ramesh Vinayagam.
The lines of the song, penned by Vairamuthu, went like this:
..chittukuruvi aruviyai
....kudikka paarkudhu,
..pattaampoochi vaanaththai
....vilaiku kekkudhu
This was sung by Arjun along with Swarnalatha. After the recording of the song Rahman hugged him in appreciation and praised Arjun's singing. Arjun has been beaming ever since!

To the question if someone has tried clock ticking as the rythm, another song where it was done before is "Oru Nall, Unnodu Oru Nall" from Uravadum Nenjam in 1976 composed by Ilayaraja.

when ARR is back in mood, he is high above the rest of the MD's....
Once Parasuram growed in u...u cant simply take it out.....what i am feeling now...

I have not heartd Parasuram yet. I was taken away by all the rave reviews here, but after I see your messages for long I know I should not take these views seriously. I think this is just another case of some arr fans over-hyping an ordinary album.
But please do keep posting. Otherwise I could not have sensed the "illegitimacy" of your views on Parasu. Please no offence meant here. Just that I wanted to tell you that you have told enough here and I have a claear view on Parasu now. It is just another drab like kv, udaya probably.

Parasuram is disappointing to say the least. I listened with the expectation of getting atleast a couple of good numbers, but ARR has failed even in the fast numbers which usually score.

As an ARR fan, I have started a society..with 6 members initially..We have bought 1000 Parasuram cassettes and 300 CDs..We will be distributing them freely to the ordinary people to promote ARRs music..

For your information, like "Udhaya" too, "Parasuram" was composed 3 years back and released now. So, if there is a copy, then YSR should have copied from ARR. If you dont beleive this, then click below and read, when "Parasuram" was tuned and recorded. "Parasuram" was to be directed by Malayalam director Shaji Kailash, but due to the debacle between Arjun and Shaji, Arjun took over this project. This was called as CHANAKYA and ASHOKA before. So, PARASURAM was composed very very long back. CLick and read below all of you.

The movie was first called Asokha. It was then renamed as Chanikya. Then when director Shaji Kailas left the film it was retitled as Parasuram.
Few years ago Rahman had agreed to work under the banner of Anbalaya Films for producer Prabhakaran. The movie was titled "Nanba Pasanga" for which Prabhakaran had paid Rahman for two songs. But that film was shelved. Recently Rahman gave Prabhakaran a call and asked him to revive the two songs and also gave him tunes for two additional songs. Ethused by the Rahman's new offer Prabhakaran launched the new movie "Ashoka," with Arjun in the lead.
"Ashoka" was launched in AVM Studios on July 20th. The movie is produced by Anbalaya's Prabhakaran and directed by Shaji Kailas. The movie stars Arjun, Samyuktha Varma, Raghuvaran, Rajeev among others. The movie planned as a big budget film is supposed to have an aggressive schedule. A.R.Rahman has agreed to give music for the film, while lyricist Vairamuthu has been ropped in to write the songs.

First we should agree it resembles with YSR's song from the movie velai which was released in 1998.The audio cassete was released in 1997 december when I bought that cassete.

Not a very proud album for ARR fans. But ARR's style is quite different in this movie. The usual restraint that ARR shows in his songs is lacking in this movie, some songs sound very rocky and funky.
Its true, that JAck & Jill irritates as a song, while the other songs are average to good.
This is not a major release from arr, and an ok album at that, but I cant help wondering about Boys.
I just hope there are no terrible songs in Boys, and that all songs are pleasant to listen to.
Parasuram is not a bad album at all, but cannot be blindly classified a great one.
