Search for More News
Kolkata, Jan 9: Music wizard A R Rahman, who has taken the western world by storm with live performances, will make his debut under home arc lights with a series of concerts beginning here February 1.
With the who’s who of Indian playback joining him at the ‘Unity of Light’, 10-concert tour, Rahman would enthrall fans across the country and then fly off to charm audiences in the Middle-East, US and Canada.
S P Balasubramanium, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Sukhwinder Singh, Sadhna Sargam, Vasundhara Das and Mahalaxmi Iyer would belt out a medley of film songs composed by Rahman, who would be at the keyboards.
"Events over the last two years across the world have stirred me from within to plan a concert with harmony as the underlying theme. And I am happy I have been able to plan this now,” Rahman told a news conference here today.
The composer, whose hit scores in ‘Roja’, ‘Bombay’, ‘Taal’ and ‘Lagaan’ have been on top of music charts for long, would also sing numbers from popular films and Andrew Lloyd Weber production, ‘Bombay Dreams’.
And he would also have something for the home crowd of Kolkata.
"The concert will have a few translated Rabindra Sangeet renditions. The rest should remain a surprise,” the unassuming musician said. (Agencies)

Now Shanmugham has surfaced again...out to prove that Rehman fans are bad.
Isn t it very strange?Whenever you complain that IR fans make bad postings Shanmugham comes out and paints the forum red!So Shanmugham is not against postings in poor tastes by Ambleen & co but against the COMPLAINTS.
Atleast now admin must unmask the IP-its location etc.

on: Wed Jan 15 07:57:18 EST 2003
OISG, I bet Shanmugam has nothing to do with the official rahman or any other MD's website, unlike certain other "representatives" of other MDs, and you also wont find Shanmugam writing to a.r.'s associates & conductors asking them about his unreleased work unlike the 'reps' here. :)
And believe me, the language these official reps have used in this forum will pale in comparison tat used by Shanmugam. But of course these were left undeleted by admin, if i'm not mistaken. Also, unlike Shanmugam these reps take special care to leave the IR threads untarnished whereas Shanmugam doesnt care which threads he attacks.
