  ARRahman is smart. He does copy old tunes but in a clever fashion. For example, in"Kadhalar thinam", the song "Enna vilai Azhagay" is almost the same as "Thangapadhakathil melay" of M.S.V! In Sangamam, the song "Mazhkari thingalallava" a portion of "Mera Nam Raju" of Jish Desh Mae Ganga Bahthi Hai" - Shankar Jaikishen has been copied. I another movie, he has copied the "beginning" of A.M. Raja's "AAdathamanamum Adumo". I can go on giving examples. Of course, the great MSV also copied a portion of Ringo Starr's song in Simla Special "Unnakenru...Nee nandalala".
