Directors who ARE and WERE WITH Ilayaraja for their films

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

Lots of years have passed, lots of good talents have been exploited in the industry, lots of Hit combinations arounsed curiousity in the minds of the people. Some of the Hit combinations of the 80's were:

Mani Rathnam and Ilayaraja
Bharadiraja and Ilayaraja
Fazil and Ilayaraja
Balu Mahendra and Ilayaraja
Balachander and Ilayaraja
P Vasu and Ilayaraja
Singeetham Sreenivas Rao and Ilayaraja

and many such hotshot directors with Ilayaraja.

The above list tops all other combinations. But, none but two of the directors seem to be with Ilayaraja.

Mani Rathnam, Balachander, Bharadiraja, P Vasu (Love Birds), seem to have left Ilayaraja. The younger crop of directors are either with Rahman, Yuvan or Vidhyasagar, but not many are with Ilayaraja.

  The top notch directors may not be with IR.

  The same magazine gossipped how Thankar Bachan looted Panchu Arunachalam with Rs. 2 crore and yet did not pay IR, before some days. Panchu has separately settled IR for SMK.
  
  Panchu is the one who introduced IR to film industry and IR has good regards for him. I think this is the same reason why treats TB like this and if this is true, IR is fully justified in this case.(I feel IR justified for first time)

  On top of it when Azhagi was done, TB himself explained how IR supported him. When they thought the movie will not fetch any money, IR stood behind them and took personal efforts with producers etc.
  
  For this kind of support from a veteran MD, TB should have some gratitude.
  
  IR also helped Bala. Bala was very thankful in his own words. IR was telling him that he should do something good for Bala. He gave Bala a variety of choices(which new comers don't enjoy generally) in tunes for Sethu.

  If your above posting is true, then IR's attitude as reported in the website can be understood.
  There may be another story between TB and Panju.

  Both IR and Panju have seen ups and downs(in terms of money and fame). So I feel they are matured.
  
  But for TB it is a new found glory. He has gone through the grind of poverty. Probably he wants to cash on it. Panchu is a guy from the generation where people were simple and honest. However, we should keep a room for another story between TB and Panju.

  One thing is sure. IR was and always support newcomers.(Even when he was in peak).
  
  But I think he expects them to show some gratitude after the success. That is he don't want them to talk with different tone after giving a success, atleast with him.
  
  This could be one of the reason, his relations with some directors fall apart. His expectations are legitimate, but he do not have to take it this far. After all nobody is perfect and even if somebody is perfect they should not expect the same from others.

  It looks like Azhagi producer udhaya kumar busy on developing this rumour. He was the person earlier had fight with TBachan, finaly settled because of IR. IR supported TB in another movie (SMK), though the movie was not great, but music lifted the film. Udhayakumar left IR & TB went with another MD and director and fall flat on his face.This ego is nothing new in film industry (Example Shankar - KT kunjumon). If IR continues to support Thankar, he is sure to grow which will not be a happy news for Udayakumar. So spread rumours all out to delink IR/Thankar.

  The main reason that why every body ignorring IR is Jadi Pirachanai, (Cast) because as you all know, IR came from very botttom.
  
  When IR came in to the industry, IR got some painfull experiance from the Pepole who call themselfs that they are hig cast (Uyarnda Jadi). From that day IR was aimed and to take revange.
  
  Then IR was came to Top Possition, and there is no film without IR, Then he has strated to show his color (Palikku pali).
  
  so what happen every body was looking for time to cut the IR, because they cannot digest his treatment.
  Some how then again these pepoles got the chance (time) and they used very well.
  
  Now You pepole are fighting with each other...!
  
  Whay all this??????
  
  Please try to respect telented people and listen good music from Any body and coment on that.
  
  if its from MSV, IR, AR, Manisharma, Deva, SA R.kumar,.... anybody.
  
  here this page not like that either IR or AR.

  Sandiyar is by Kamal Hassan.
  
  Story, Screenplay and also the Direction is also by Kamal Hassan. Music by Ilayaraja. Ravikumar never had the oppurtunity to work with Ilayaraja.

  It is IR who refused to work with thankar bachan and not the otherway around. TB insulted panchu arunachalam (and some money matters) and IR didn't like it. It's only a loss for TB and not for IR. As most of us know IR is a very sensitive man and what's there to wonder when things like these happen? IR is a straight-forward man who doesn't compromise for anything or anyone. Good or bad, that's who he is.

  every one wants ilayaraja to leave the music field, because no one is in a posisition to compet him. Ofcourse tamilnad people today does'nt want him, who bought the fans from Hindi/English listeners. This is the way of gratitude we are showing to a great legend. This is our "Hesiyath".
  
  I am sorry to quote this but i am helpless. I am the fan of IR. He is the last legend of Music World of Indian Cinema. AR, Vidyasagar or others are definitely not a good music directors. Also without publicity these so called music directors can't be able to exhibit even their names in the eyes of viewers. Media makes mum and devil sound composers get award like padmashree & padmabushan.
