  maasilaa unmai kaadhalae maarumo selvam vandha podhilae FROM alibaabavum naaRpadhu thirudargaLum, is one of my favourite MGR song. It is a neat melodious duet by A.M.Raja and P.Bhanumathy. MD is V.Dakshinamurthy. Don't know who is the lyricist :-(

  when we speak of MGR- Shivaji, I feel it was MGR songs which were more popular.

  Many songs that were part of his `koLkai parappu vElai' were not so enticing (to me), still one was quite special IMHO:
  
  `koduthadhellAm koduthAn
  avan yArukkAka koduthAn
  oruthanukkA koduthAn
  illai, oorukkAka koduthan'...
  
  ...excellent music (inspite of repeated interludes which also resembled the music of `ANi muthu vAngi vandhEn AvaNi veehiyilE), great lines without his usual `koLkai muzhakkam' but with a touch of equality, nice melody & good singing by TMS...makes it one of my all time favs. Film-padagOtti, music-MSV...

  I know a singer in Sri Lanka you can sing 100 times better than TMS...he sings songs that he has composed and TMS songs..his band can play music better than AR Rahman any day
