filmfare award and national award

guys
is filmfare award only for hindi movies?
i know ARR won the national award for Roja and Minsara Kanavu; did he win national award for Taal? he won the filmfare award for that...
anybody can gimme a list of the moveis rahman won for both the awards... IR too..

  I think there is a South Indian category in the Filmfare awards. But the criteria, for music, singers et al at least seems to be bsed more on popularity than true merit. Which explains why singers like Sanu win Filmfare awards but not National awards

  Filmfare awards are popularity based. They issue coupons in the magazine also in other times group mags. So the biggest hit movie of the year will sweep.
  There is a south india category, and awards for all 4 south indian languages are given away together in same ceremony. But it best in each languages ( not best of south altogether).
  IMHO filmfare is the best film mag in india (very less gossip and more talk about film and star's career thier personel life. very less hype about stars, unlike cibilblitz, stardust etc where i can see stars who appear only in thier magazine).
  So filmfare award is best among popularity award.
  still its peanuts for many..kamal has about 20.
  
  National awards are decided by some jury, similar to censor board. The president gives it away.
  its a ALL india award not for each language.
  Its mostly far away from popular opinion. They mostly accept only serious type movies. Like even best of comedies in ages have never won an award. Same applies to music if a bad movie has great music, no award!.
  
  wrt music mostly its given to classical based
  movies. Though it has changed in recent years after roja. R got 3, arr 2. Even balamurali has got one. someetimes we doubt MDs like keeravai, who just reproduced only compositions in annamayya got a award, also vishal for his very ordinary fare in godmother (he copies a lot too!).
  
  IMO, national award is most respectable award.
