introduction of carnatic music singers in film music

i feel that carnatic music singers are doing very well with both carnatic and film songs.. right from m.s. subbulakshmi, d.k.pattamal, m.l. vasanthakumari m.balamuralikrishna, k.j. yesudas of yesteryears to nithyashree, unnikrishnan, bombay jayashree upto this date it,s nice attempt on the part of music directors to make them sing both type of songs..
