Manjal Pusum is really GOOD especially the
Saranam.

Friends is another big hit for IR.

  It is simply amazing how IR gives a lovely album without making a big fuss of anything. Many other MDs norally require big promos, advertising campaigns, casette release functions and big media hype in order to get their casettes sold. I cannot remember any of that happening for an IR movie (maybe Hey Ram is an exception).
  
  IR differs from the others in the sense that, whatever fame he has achieved is simply due to his own credentials(of course, God's grace) and not due to any external factors.
  
  TFM is indebted, and shall remain inedebted to IR for his contribution.

  For heaven's sake please dont compare the music tracks of a mediocre album like 'Mudhalvan' and a pathetic album like 'Thenali' with breathtaking ones like 'Bharathi' and 'Hey Ram'. In case of 'HR'and 'Bharathi', the music can never be categorised as conventional. It goes so much in unison with the movie that it becomes difficult to separate the both.
  
  Songs of Tenali and Mudhalvan are just like mere add-ons. They can be used in anyother Tamil movie of similar/dissimilar movie. In my opinion, Tenali is the worst music in a Kamal film. ARR pales when it comes to scoring movie-specific soundtrack (of coz, Roja and Bombay were exceptions).
  
  Goes to show that the good album is the one which enhances the mode and style of the story and screenplay of the movie.

  We own shops in Trichy(angu Musicals), Coimbator(classical Musicals), Chennai(Isai Ulagam),Trichy(Rasi Muscials).
  
  In all the shops, the latest top sellers are Friends and Minnalae. Then, at presenst Kadal Pookal is moving well. Then Rishi.
  
  This is the status as of now. But definitely, Sales of Friends is much better than others in Trichy and Coimbatore. In chennai, it is ok, but not so fast. Minnalae and Rishi are moving well in Tiruchy. Overall Friends is top in the list.

  i am an ardent raja fan. all of u have been saying about the album "FRIENDS".usually i wll have all IR albums either bought as cassette or recorded , but i am hearing about this album only now. I would like to know whether this is a remake of the malayalam film "FRIENDS", the music of which was by IR. Please clarify

  This movie is a re-make of a malayalam super hit named FRIENDS.....n in tamil it has been named the same to.........the songs r not the same in malayalam even tough its the same music director......guess the songs r BETTER IN TAMIL!!!!!!!!!!(I have seen the malayalam version)

  It's just unfair to compare a few rare not so flops of ARR with the occasional hits of IR. I don't think Hey ram is that superior to compare with. May be, it may fit in ranks with mudhalvan. I mean the songs. Ofcourse his bgm in that movie is good.
  
  I just can't accept a fact. Whenever IR produces flops, people at tfm asks other to refresh the tune of 80's IR to forget the harsh realities.

  IMHO Friends is an average album. Thendral Varum and Manjal Poosum are pretty good, others live in the light of these songs. It is high time that raaja must use every opportunity he gets. But, Barathi is the best album I have heared in the recent past.

  Digression
  
  Yesterday i was listening to the song "maina maina maaman pudichha maina" from 'pagal nilavu(?)'. The starting guitar beat in that song is reused in the song "vanam perusuthaan bhoomi perusuthaan.." in Friends. But there (in maina) it was guitar piece and here it is vocal recital.

  First part of your statement may be true., But I don't agree the comparision with Thenali., IMHO, Friends is at least 4 times better than that. If you Remove the star value of Kamal, ARR and 'Swasame' Song, Thenali has absolutely nothing in it.

  Beats of "Vanam Perisu thaan" resembles ACE of BASE's "All that she wnats" beats....
  
  ARR used the same beats for "Telephone Manipol" song in Indian....
  
  And...the avg song in the friends album IMO was "Vanam Perisu thaan"...but Ir had made it sound good....thats what i feel...
  
  hope u wont deny that "thendral varum", "manjal poosum", "kuyilukku" songs r absolute beauties....
  for that matter the pathos song and the song "Ruk Ruk" r also good...
  
  IMO...the other song "Pengaladu potti" song resembled "anthi mazhai megham" song from "nayagan"...i might be wrong also...if so...am sorry...

  I just now finished listening to Friends.
  'Thendral Varum' and 'Kuiluuku Koo Koo' are his best works in this. KKK is Classic IR...shows that he has not lost the touch that made 'Chinnathambi' a megahit but times have changed now...KKK reminds us of his late peak years before his decline.
  TV is definitely melodious and the instrumentation and structure is controlled to suit younger audiences...pleasant to hear...recallable to...but nothing innovative.
  All the others have got his quality stamp...but passable stuff.
  Verdict : Fans will be happy...those looking for something new and innovative can forget it.

  I forgot to add "Ruk Ruk" is definitely not fully IR...has got many touches of YSR in it...an attempt to present a song to youth by youth...

  If friends songs are hit then I am not surprised as in the first week itself more than 90,000 cassettes were sold (repeatedly published in various magazines) I can get you more websites with exact numbers. If you show me a website that thenali songs are great hit with some numbers I have no option except to agree with it.
