Did MSV have ANY musical defects?

Let me make one thing clear: I am not against MSV, but am merely curious about this topic.

I have made an interesting observation. We have so many criticisms of IR and ARR, but I've not seen any criticism of MSV. I haven't listened to many MSV songs, but I wasn't very impressed by whatever I have heard on TV. Whatever it is, I cannot imagine that he did not have any musical defects. Could anyone point them out? I am very interested. It might test the "objectivity" of certain "objective" people regarding the IR-ARR "war"(I'm not hinting at anyone, please do not misunderstand this), but nevertheless, I want to pursue this.

  Awe, I could not help it - but to do a *reverse* anology..... in ur statements, i replaced MSV with IR and IR with ARR..... hmm... man, does'nt that statement also is true, right ?
  
  i just hope all the *fans* - MSV, IR, ARR - all of us realize what u had said, and just *stick* to OUR FAVOURITE MD's and not bother poking our nose unwantedly into other MD's - what do you say ?

  Now coming to MSV s defects i had all laong thought that he never used "Vivadhi" ragas like IR "Naatai"( Pani Vizhum),"Rasigapriya"(Sangeethame) ,Kanagangi( Mogam ennum theeyil).

  Did u listen to "Yennuiyir thozhi keloru saethi" "yezhu swarangalukkul", "maadhavi pon mailal", "adhisaya raagam", "Maname muruganin mail vaganam", "Ullathil nalla ullam urangadhu", "Nalladhor veenai seidhu", "Kanna sugama Krishna sugama", "Kadhalin Pon Veedhiyil", "Thangathil Mugam Yeduthu", "Pongum Kadalosai", "Veenai Pesum Adhai Meetum", "Naan Thayum aanavan", "Ninnaiye Radhi Yendru Ninakkirenadi Kannamma", "Unakkenna Mele Nindrai" (a kind of a fusion) - there are numerous songs with a plenty of raagas he scored. You gotto accept MSV is the greatest of all. IR is also the greatest but he is II to MSV.
  
  "Oh aayiram paarvaigal" is a asaavari raagam - tell me what song did IR scored in this raaga?
  
  Only mannar and mannar mannar could/can do!!!
  
  I agree after scoring 4 gen and 1000s of films MSV would have been tired and now he is just like a normal person for survival and so is IR. IR also was finished in 92 by ARR. Now what IR is doing is just survival. I still dont think he gets paid even on par with what he used to get at his peek time!

  - Man it is a free country.. you cannot say "You gotto" "you must" "you should".. ok your whole idea is to annoy people here.. it was understood long before.. You are no different than that funny Jayachandran fan who just for the heck poked his nose in every SPB thread and said "Jayachandran is the best singer.. blah blah".. and started so many threads on Jayachandran. Your arguments sound not only naive also repetitive. Hope you learn something from other music fans about how to be a fan. I wish you good luck.

  Hi Awe, u were not able to come out with a valid defence and u never accepted other MDs talent and their good work. Like IR like his fans. Keep the "ego" get going.
  
  BTW, Jeya's fan is not MSV's fan. Look at the example i gave in my previous posts. I thot U cried and gone forever... why did u jump in again for another cry. I learnt a lot from MSV's music and perseverance.
  
  U guys always talk about repetitive...which example I gave a repetitive answer. Come on...
  It shows ur lame excuse on me. I bet on this board, no body would have come out with this punch before. I am no different than MSV/ARR fan. But u r no different than IR fanatic - not accepting others for the heck of it.

  But you have changed for the better now and have started showing respect for other artistes.

  You are list -does it contain Vivadhi ragas?AFAIK have identitfiable non-vivadhi ragas.
  
  Anyway i have list from SL, a small one with MSV songs using N3,R3 etc.I thought you would add something to the list.
  
  Or Aairam paarvaaile - You mean the "Vallavan Oruvan" song-It was by Veda (ofcourse the original is Hindi!)It was not by MSV.

  To add to the list of ragaas the great MSV has improvised upon, "Oru naaL iravu pagal pOl nilavu"
  from "KAviathalaivi" in raaga Madhukons. I don't know whther the "great" IR or ARR have a song in that raaga.

  MSV's deterioration started from late 70's onwards and I guess it was a natural process. His strong forte melody was draining and he gave real bad songs to upcoming top heroes like Kamal (atleast I cannot forget the crap songs of Mangala vaadhyam, Savaal etc) , Rajini (Raanuva veeran, Billa, Pollaadhavan etc). His association with TKR produced the best soft melodious songs in TFM history. After the split , his music became too loud and pompous even for soft, sensitive films like "oru nadigai naadagam paarkiraal"

  thumburu, weren't the songs in 'Andha Ezhu Naatkal' good? I thought so. How about 'Mridhanga Chakravarthi'? 'Nilave Malare'? 'Madhurai Meetta Sundara Pandiyan'?

  Thumburu: No doubt, MSV-TKR combo produced some of the best melodious songs in TFM but your criticism of MSV is too harsh. Oru Nadigai... had two melodious numbers : Oru Nadigai Paarkkum and Etthanai Malargul and I do not think either of them were "loud". Even Ananda Vikatan, usually anti-MSV, praised the title song.
