Must we hate MD's who COPY ?

Well, PPL tel that all MD's in TFM Copy or Recycle music. Does this make the music disgusting to hear ?

My personal opinion is that Copying is Ok as long as PPl have'nt heard it before and the music is also ok.

For example, DEVA's "Oh Nenje Nenje" was copied from Back Street Boys "Get Down Get Down", but the Tamil version was good to hear and moreover PPL were not aware of BSboys song earlier ( most of them )

WELL...

But I think that Recycling spoils the curry

  I simply meant people support original work and respect the hardwork put up by others(original composers) and hence no further discussion is required.

  Hate is not the right word.,
  I feel we should ignore the copied songs totally and give no credit to the MD., Talk ONLY about his original compositions and decide his talent based on that.,

  Not at all. There's a lot to learn from these guys. About the kind of inspirations they derive and the way they adapt a foreign song to tfm! Case in point...a telugu song composed by Deva in the movie Tholi Prema (ee manase). The original is by Dr Alban (alabalaba - this word even features in the telugu version). There are very few things that have been incorporated in the telugu song by Deva and his work on the pallavi and anupallavi are very very original. So its more of an adaptation of Dr Alban's work than a copy.
  
  Again, the song enemies by Dr Alban. Deva ripped the charanam entirely from this song for his 'hey keechu kiliye' number in mugavari. But charanam! His own and a very good one at that!

  When we talk about Deva - I feel we should be really really Careful :-)
  
  Maybe the pallavi and anupallavi of 'ee manase' song are not from 'Alabalaba' - But how we can say they are original, They may have been copied from some other song .... Isn't it ? Take case of 'Sonaaa' song from Vaali - Pallavi and anupallavi from one song and the charaNam from another song., Deva is very very clever :-)

  - Ennakanu Piranthava (fooled me for IR !!)
  - Aval Varuvala
  - Manam Virumbuthey
  - Hey Keechu Kiliye

  I think that PPL LIKE Songs even if they are copied ( ADAPTED if you want in other words ). Only if the songs is so obious do they hate it.
  
  Take for example:
  Mac Mac Macrina was a hit. I think we must give Kudos to Deva for giving some sort of Thappankuttu Fusion ?
  
  Whatever the song is, they end with a thappankuttu.
  
  Most PPL in Tamil Nadu wouldnt have got to listen these songs if not for Deva.

  My personal opinion on this - I have no respect for somebody who copies - creativity is something which is devine., When such people earn money (and fame) - I feel very much insulted as a true rasikan. Insult is not only for me .. but for the art itself. Nallathoor veeNai seythu, athai viRakukkadaiyil pottathupola ...
  Whatever they earn from such things .. is simply like earning by prostitution., All IMHO.,

  May be raw but fact:
  
  Copying is like.. a man claiming some one else child as his own child. This is the best interpretion for such MDs.
  
  Anyone feeling bad, excuse me but I posted decently earlier to this fellow(Maruthi)..look above...but he does'nt seem to get it!! So hard htting is much needed i feel!!

  Isn't there a limit to just how many original tunes people come come out with. Hundreds of songs are being released in TFM each year alone and is it really possible that every song is original?
  
  But yes, deva copies extensively but even in copying there is a skill. I feel that he has adapted the tunes pretty well to suit TFM. Cab't remember who but someone once said that there exists only 7 different plots. Everything else is an adaptation.
  
  I feel that Deva while he should not be considered a genius, he should at least be given the respect for adapting tunes quite successfully.

  Putting a piece of wood and a lead together and hence creating a pencil is creativity...taking somebody else's pencil and changing the name or colour and calling it your own in robbery...
  Most musicians recreate music, eg they reuse certain instruments, tunes etc to create something new. But some (like Deva) masala whatever they can find, slip slop slap them together and call them his own. He's a smart man, he knows there r plenty of suckers who'll buy it...
