I do not think that SPB is given many credits for his 3 decades bliss performance, he has been awarded doctorate by the Annamalai University, and Padmashree award in the late 90's, that is nearly after 30 years of his contribution to the music world! this is rediculous, u can not imagine TFM without SPB
other artists who could be added to the list are Illaiyaraja, S.Janaki, P.Susheela.
Why SPB has not yet been awarded with Padmabhushan or Padmavibushan award??

The point should not be how many and which award was given or not given to S P B Subramanyam. The point is that those who listen to Baala Subramanyam get the the sublimity, nobility, and depth of sensitivity of the greatest of his performances? Why not the highest quality of all his quality songs and most inspired of all his inspired vocal performances should be brought to the forefront?
How many people know about those sublime emotional/classical/religious songs by Subramaniam? How many have experienced the universality of these spiritual thunderstorms?
Those who have listened tens of thousands of Telugu and Kannada songs of the 70s and 80s must have surely known these out-of-the-world performances.
But can you imagine that such performances are ever selected by radio and tv channels? Or someone ever analysyes, writes or talks about them?--- Not the least, I am afraid.

very well said, and I still thing SPB ji deserves more awards for his performance, I mean serving the music industry for 37 years is no joke!

Lakshman -- sorry for the online songs.
However one specimen of Subramanyam's highest quality emotional thunderstorms that I remeber the wording of, is a Kannada song, "Hey yudhdha ....."
Incredibly this song belongs to as late as 1994. The film was "Mutteena Haara."
If you can get your hand on it, do acquire it. It is a must listen song; emotions propelling the performance and the performance sustaining the emotions. A spiritual trance overpowers the listener from the first to the last second of this thunderstorm.

The male lead was Vishnu Vardhan. The female lead done by Suhaasini.
Vishnu Vardhan played as a Kodagu soldier.
The movie is against the miseries brought by war.
On the whole an average-good movie.

In Malayalavedhi.com one can search the Malyaalam songs by putting "spb" as the search word. There would come 15 songs as a result, but I think except for 1 all the songs are from 1990s. This is its real limitation.
