B G M - Eternal Myths!

Can any HCIRF please enlighten this poor soul?



1.How many movies have run simply because of IRs rerecording?
2.Has he managed any recognition at the state,national,Asian,international levels for his BGM ?
3.Has he won any awards (say like Filmfare,Zee ,IIFA etc ) for his BGM?( i hear Adhesh Srivatsava won a Filmfare or Zee award for his BGM in "Border")
4.Who would you rate as the other good BGM scorers at the national ,international levels? (apart from the staple answer "Nobody")-[This is just to determine where he stands vis-a-vis "Them"]
5.Why is he not getting offers to score BGM for Hollywood movies when his credentials are extraordinary as per your judgement?

6.Are there any awards instituted by our govenments for BGM ...like the ones for special effects,editing?If they exist has he won anything?If it does not why don tyou guys make a representation to the government?(But if the Governement accepts your representation and gives the award to some other MDs .....)

7.Mention some scenes wherein without his BGM the scene would have fallen flat pulling down the whole movie.

8.Are there any movies by other MDs in which the BGM was ...say..Ok!?
I shall request all non-IR fans not to post in this thread.Lets listen!

  Vj, you will have to add one more movie to the list. 'AKS' (the Amitabh movie) got the award for best BGM - 2001 Filmfare awards, National (or Hindi) section. Hopefully there will be a good competition for 2002, for this award which falls in the technical category separated from the Best Music award.

  Vj, I strongly agree with your point about judging the calibre by the media dominant opportunities. As Rudrveena serial says, engayavadhu, PAADIVARTHANEE Raagam ketteengala.. Ragam supposed to make you do self analysis..(Some music friends can help me whether such ragam is used in films).

  I heard Satyajit Ray used to compose his own BGMs and they are pretty good. Ravishankar has done music for Satyajit Ray too, may be good stuff. I think you have to look at Bengali/Malayalam movies for good story with scope for BGM. I agree with OISG in saying that we are, in a way, shortsighted because of our love for IR's music. And we look to other Tamil, Hindi, Telugu movies for comparison to IR's BGMs?

  Saketh we are not shortsighted because of our love for IR's music. I have heard the music of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam MDs, John williams, James horner, Jerry Goldsmith, Ennio Morricone IR's BGM has receieved accolades from all sundries. As Vj pointed out, something called BGM in movies came to the attention of public only after IR's entry. Just look at the beginning of the thread.. You will know the thread was not started with any good intentions.

  Everybody knows that its waste of time talking about IR's crap songs, worst BGM, irritating voice and idiotic writing. Its only maniacs like Awe & few others makes false statements about this non existing person in TFM.

  ST can you be any more pathetic? Is it the limit or you can still go beyond this.. But i encourage you to keep posting as it shows your "brain made of mud" in black and white to everyone. Admit yourself in a mentaly asylum before they come out with dogs to catch you. You are neither an ARR fan nor a music fan. You are just here to get some attention by writing whatever that strikes your tiny brain. You have very serious problems.

  since our illustrious old_is_gold_ got his "satisfactory" answers from an "unbiassed" fan (because he also mentioned that people like RDburman, mahesh, devA, ... also have given some wonderful BGM), it's time to close this thread. sorry guys.
