excellent songs in dud movies

How many times you have gone to the picture hall got thoroughly bored by the flick & suddenly an excellent song comes along ( in most cases horribly picturised ) It left you wondering what is this song doing in a movie like this. Conversely you liked a song very much that you went to see the movie with the same result.
For starters I have given half a dozen.
1.gangai nadhi oram Raman nadanthan ( varaprasadham. Vijay Kumar , jay chitra horror)
2.meen kodi theril manmatha rajan (Karumbu vil. why was this movie made beats me)
3 engum niraindha iyarkayil enna sugamo ( idhu eppadi irukku. dandama irrukku. based on sujatha's Anitha ilam manaivi. it was averitable kotthu kari. *g jai & sridevi)
4.Vaanavillinul varna jaalangal ( Naan naane than *g P Madhavan's son Aamam nee neeye than en velliya vanthe)
5.Unakkenna mele ninrai ( Simla special what was special was this was a tragic comedy. Sv sekar irrunthum ...oru sirippu kood illai)
6.Malargale malargale (Love birds. pyramid natarjan & P Vasukku than velicham indha padathin nokkam enna enru)
I can think of other movies. the criteria is that the movie should suck ( of course mostly the movies would have bombed but there may be exceptions)
I don't want people to come & post simla Special Ariyaluril 20 Naal Pocchu enru. The movie sucked big time ( more so as it was from Mukta movies)

  KKK is one of the stories of a 3 story kannadaa movie(3 stories in one movie) directed by Puttanna kanagal. Aarthi did Revathys role in the original and the villain role was played by our own super * Rajinikanth

  I dont know how wide-spread it is but my friends (hi school buddies) used to do that a lot in Kovai, and I always found it very funny - especially since they said it with a straight face even though they meant it as a joke. My favorite was "brother mountain" - Annamalai!
  
  Another cute trick was inverting the syllables. "Lico saapida porom, varaiya?", or sometimes when in the mood for beef biriyani they'll say - "inaikku duma".

  I dont know if any other director could have saved KKK - it had enough masala in it, ex. Rajini dodging bullets multiple times, beating the crap out of the villain, a "sexy" dance number etc. The basic theme itself must have been unacceptable to the rajini fans - Rajini's wife being raped, and he accepting her back in the end, and not even killing the villain.

  Uthiripookal is rated one of the best tamil movies ever...
  
  3 or 4 weeks back there was an interview with Maniratnam in "The Hindu".

  Some of Maniratnam's comments about Mahendran & Uthiripookal....

  As far as "Metti" ... it is another Mahendran Classic... The entire film has just 5 Characters... SarathBabu , brother
  of 3 Sisters and Senthamarai the Drunken Father...Kanneer irukkum varai azhuthu kotti vidalam...
  
  IMO, "Nandu" songs might have inspirational to Maniratnam's "Naan Sirithal Deepavali" in Nayagan & "Manram vantha thendralukku"
  in Mouna Raagam.

  am still looking for the songs in 'Metti'.... wonderful songs... but IMO, just 'coz it didnt run commercially, it cannot be called a 'dud' movie.
  
  the speciality of any Mahendran movie is there'll be central charecters but the other charecters are inter-woven into the plot that u'd find it difficult without the sub-charecters. the best example wd be 'uthiripookkal'. 'johny' could be an exception.

  IMO, "Nandu" songs might have inspirational to Maniratnam's "Naan Sirithal Deepavali" in Nayagan & "Manram vantha thendralukku" in Mouna Raagam.
  
  We can even go one step more to say that Mani's Mounaraagam itself is a kind of inspiration from Nenjaththai KiLLaadhae, including the same type climax.
