I CANNOT ABLE TO UNDERSTAND WHY UDIT NARAYAN IS GETTING LOT CHANCES IN TAMIL FILMS. THERE ARE PLENTY OF TALENTED TAMIL GUYS ARE WAITING FOR TAMIL SONGS. BUT VIDHAYSAGAR IS GIVING MUCH IMPORTANCE TO UDIT NARAYANA.

A.R.Rahman and Vidhyasagar are the real promoters of such useless singers. They are great music composers undoubtedly but why do they just use signers like udith narayan, sukvinder singh, sadhana sargam sonu nijam etc.

Guys,
Now ARR has introduced new set of tamil killers in Boys album. Composition was peppy, but why to waste it with such singers.
Earlier, he use to give one song in a album like this to add flavour, which was bearable. Now in Boys he set a trend of giving most of the album to such singers. Hope other MDs don't follow that trend due to success of Boys.

pls contact IR to find out why hindi singers like asha bhosle and lata mangeshkar where made to sing in the 1980s....
and how about the person who sang "yamnai atrile" - wrote it the way she sang....
if there singing is bearable then why not udit's ?..
dont bash arr for the trend set by IR

Udit Narayan is a good singer - but in Hindi. True he has sung some good tunes in Tamil, but he kills the language. The credit for the hits should go to the music directors. Every song that Udit has sung should have been sung by UNNI MENON - great voice, good diction and it would have been more pleasant to the ears

Vidyasagar is not a Tamilian. Why does he care if Udit murders Tamil or Sadhana murders Tamil. Should we even expect him to care when the Tamilian MDs themselves are becoming increasingly dependent on tamil-murdering singers for their success.

The only way to hit such a trend is by promoting MP3s of such albums.
Dont buy a single copy. The music would be popular and the producer will kick some butt off these MDs when he goes broke.

Singers are the mercy of MDs. They can make or break singers. Do u think good talent alone makes a person popular? We had many discussions even in this forum about many talented singers not getting appreciable chances.
I guess the MDs are to be blamed about choosing North Indian singers. Well they have to make sure the diction is right - the singers will not be able to do so. I guess the North Indian dialect is every different compared to the south Indian languages - thats why we see the strong accent and literal murder of the language.
Isnt it pathetic that earlier people were cynical about North Indian actresses making their fray into south Indian cinema when they could not even utter a word in Tamil but now, even worse, singers who cant even speak a word in Tamil are singing Tamil songs!!! What a way to go!!! :-(
100% MDs are to be blamed. The songs which have become hits because of the tune/music - MDs take a sentimental value for the singer too and tend to use their voice repeatedly. Though people enjoy the music, the opinion that the language has been murdered is unanimous.

Why are we so sceptical to these matters? Don't South Indians sing in Hindi? The voice of SPB is so absurd in Hum Apke Hain Kaun but still the songs were superhit because of the music. Why are we quite about this? That's one reason he could not shine in Hindi for a long time.
Hasn't ARR promoted South Indians in Bollywood .... the influx has to be both ways.
Udit Narayan is an excellent singer and his voice has suited some of the numbers very well.... no one can deny the fact that his pronounciation has improved a lot. While I do not totally disagree to the fact his pronounciation needs to improve, let us stop being so cynical.

When you partly understand and partly don't understand a song it increases the interest in the song - atleast thats what happens to me. Sometimes I laugh at the pronunciations, but its not unbearable.

Udhit is the only National singer. First time in the Histroy of Cinema, a north Indian singer is singing in most of the South Indian films. Recently he started singing in Malayalam also. Udit is singing more in Telugu than Tamil. He is now singing in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. It is a short wave. it will go off shortly.

i truly blame ARR for using southie singers in Bollywood...... his choice of M.G.Shreekumar for "kissa hum likhenge" in "Doli saja ke rakhna" fetches him 0 out of 10 marks from me......he spolied that song......
maybe the same way u pundits feel abt. hindi singers in Tamil songs....i accept this theory...

Udit is a talented singer but he needs to improve his pronounciation when he sings Tamil or Telgu or Kannada.I dont think he has any chance in Malayalam films. He just sung one song in "CID moosa" which starts with "Hindi lyrics"

Certainly not Sadhana Sargam. She sang "Snehithane" from Alaipayuthey too well that I couldnt believe at first she was not tamil. Infact the later hits like Konjum Mainakkale(Kandukondain), Anbe(Rhythm), Amma(New) are very good.

Sadhna Sargam is alright, though I didn't care for some of her pronunciation in Konjum Mainakkale. Otherwise she is not too bad. But Udit! Man, he is in a class by himself in Tamil. He's good in Hindi (ARR-Udit combo is great), but I can't stand it when ARR and Vidyasagar, otherwise talented MDs, use him.

Hi All,
I could not read this entire thread.
Iam glad that I found a forum where I can express my two cents,in regard to this topic.
Firstly the trend of having a singer, who does not know Tamil ( or for any other language he is singing in ) does a lot of damage to the song.
The intonation to the song is completely lost, the beautiful lyrics written by the lyricist, loses its intended beauty, the local talent loses its opportunity, and end of the day I as an end user hate to listen to such *Half Baked* songs, which fail to deliver value and is grossly Irritating. (For which I have paid my hard earned money already)!!
There are numerous Tamil songs that have great melody and orchestration, which ultimately lack lustre, due to the voice Track (which in my view is the beautifying track of all Tracks) being bleak.
I urge all Music Directors, and Lyricists and all concerened to excercise due dilligence in reversing the trend. Many of the serious music lovers are now reverting to songs of yester years to avoid listening to songs that lack diction. PLEASE STOP THE DAMAGE BEING DONE TO THE LANGUAGE, THE MUSIC, AND THE PUBLIC!!.
