This is an extract of interview of Dhina.....

I think he is the only MD who didn't say IR is his fav...I am very surprised ...how can that be ...a MD from TFM and IR not at all in list of favs ???

You lost a glorious opportunity of being appreciated by HCIRF.Though they may number a few hundreds they decide on critical issues like whether a person knows music or not,who can compose,who can decompose,right to live,right to die etc..

Had u said "IR is my guru" your quote would have found a place in Raajanghangam,if not history.
Even your kuppai title songs for the dirty serials would have gained critical acclaim from them because of your ultimate use of discretion and strategy.

On the other hand, you are tremendously being appreciated by non-IR fans for not using his name. By the way, I am yet to hear one decent song of yours in commercial movies. (One's success is a litmus proof of how good they are) Now, I can easily comprehend why his name did not pop up in your mouth as your role model. It's good that you ears percieve music differently from the mass....isn't it?

Dhina,whoever he is and whatever he is worth,is he not entitled to his personal favourites and opinions?

Dhina has denied some alpa thrupthi to the likes of Kiran ,Sethu,Kasi,Bala,Nanda,Cheenu ,chupramani,Sabapathy,etc...

Tomorrow if Lallu,Bappu Yadav and Rabri say their favourite is Altaf Raja or then Kiran will open another thread or what?

Dhina has the right to say whatever in his mind. But to be fair, especially when giving such kinda public interviews, they should be watchful in giving due appreciations and respect to people who have achieved/worked towards improving film music. Needless to mention IR's achivements and his contributions to TFM. Entire TN is well aware of this. I have read interviews of various MD's and one or other time they never felt shy in paying due respect their fore-runners. Dhina appears to be forecfully refraining in using IR's name. Good that the interviewer did not ask Dhina to count numbers..He number chart may look like ...98,99,101,102 ...

yes.. it is surprising he did NOT mention IR.. but that does not take away all his knowledge (however lil they may be.. but hey he's scored tunes that u here literally EVERYDAY) in music.

and is it a rule that ne new MD or musician HAS to be an IRF? check out the title of this thread!!!

Your arguments are vague.Many MD's,singers,directors who hav praised IR have been critisized for their personal works by IR fans in this DF.But no sensible IR fan will claim that everything given by those artists(who praise IR) is great.
Naturally any IR fan will feel happy if IR is praised.In your case its MSV and ARR.

And when did u start counting the IR fans?Can you please enlighten us on the exact number of IR fans?:-)

Your Raajangham logic is again wrong.If Dheena doesnt say anything abt IR,why to put it in Raajangham?:-)..rite? FYI Raajangham is the Official IR site and they put things only related to IR.Appreciations and constructive criticisms can be put in a website.But they cant list all the names who dont like IR's music.Ungala thitti oru mottai kaduthasi vandha atha unga veetla frame panni vechupeengala?:-)

dheena is a collection of crap.

he doesn't even know what music is.then there is no wonder that he doesn't like illayaraja.

as a person illayaraja may be rude or something.who cares about that.as music director he is one of the greatest music directors.there is no doubt about that.

we don't even consider dheena as a music director, then who cares what he says about IR.

am i right?

whoever this dheena is, did he blatantly say that he doesnt like IR or he is not a fan of IR?... just because he mentioned ARR & MSV as role models and not IR doesnt mean that he is crap or he doesnt have any taste of music... Each and every person has his own opinion and because of an unmentioned praise or comment why is he being targeted? I dont understand why some people think that if you are a music lover, you have to be a fan of X and not a fan of Y...

I think many of you here are being extremely naive thinking that everyone must like IR's music, although there are many evidences that points to the contrary.

Believe me, a large section of people DO NOT like IR's brand of music. And that includes musically savvy people too.

Many people in the world do not like dosai too and you want to criticise them for that? Appadithaan irukkuthu intha kathai.

I reiterate, many people do not like IR's music.

When any new music dorector says that he likes MSV's and ARR's music or is influenced by them, there is an obvious gap. Its just too obvious that that person has got something against IR(tho not his music).

Reading OISG's post, you can tell that some music fans have become anti-IR after the advent of ARR. They jump from one band-wagon to another as soon as they see another one. And despite all this if they can still 'support' MSV (while in the midst of showing hints of anti-IRism), then you can also tell this people really have some kind of problem.

Very strange.

Conversely considering the same argument...
IR NEVER mentioned about MSV.. let alone ARR.
Did that make the 2 of them less greater(paradoxical, isnt it!).. or shud i say.. inferior.

I remember reading this IR never mentioned about MSV stuff from an old thread in this forum.. I might be wrong.

If two musically opposite style MDs can inspire someone, normal ppl will definitley fail to understand how come there's no mention of IR. Isn't it bloody obvious?

You cannot just live in newtfmpage alone. You need to know things from elsewhere and watching & listening to non-ARR movies. If you hadn't know this, i'll feed you with this. IR and MSV worked together for at least 2 films. From that you can know.

Why can't these people accept facts. Dheena did not like IR and he was courageous enough to say that but in no single letter he has said that he dislikes IR. Not even a remore mention there. He just diplomatically avoided it.

Isn't it his right to have his personal opinion?

Atleast he has come out and said so. There are hundreds of talented people out there wsho have either bluffed about IR or just kept quite fearing back lash.

One more person who just kicked the a ss but avoided confrontation is Sesha Gopalan (Carnatic Singer). Don't they have the right for opinion?

Making dheena's a big issue clearly shows the state of terror in which the Raajangham is.

Note:
Raajangham here doesn't mean the site. It is the imaginary empire that IR fans live in.

Raja has always mentioned and referred to MSV as annan msv...If you listen to thaai mookambikai's LP/cassette, the cassette has an introduction by Raja..and he mentions about MSV...that's for one..

PS: I am a fan of Raja's music and music alone.

I am only glad that he has taken the name of MSV. That would make even IR happy, given the depth to which IR idolizes & loves MSV's music...

Guys, those who are curious can read in the link below what MDs like Bharani, Manisharma and singers like Sadhana sargam, Karthik etc have told abt IR's music..
