  depends on what u call as gaana! Acc to me... anything that has not a not a bit of something called music, and anything thats jus a lot of sentences in "Madras baashai" put together is gaana. Appdi paarthaa...i think there;s very little in Rahman;s songs to point out as gaana.

  udaya is actually done 3 years back as pramis nadarajan and i are met in a fight,he didn release it.and now he had released.its not my fault my fans.....please give me a chance,i will make boy songs a super hit......the movie is contain 10 bit songs.....it will release in 14.04.2003 by me in chennai anna arivalayam infront of mr karunanithi the ex cm of tamilnadu

  I am not really impressed with AAR's soft "ghaana" or his attempts at rap music. However the title song of Udaya is a nice song.

  It'll end up like that sythesized music for that Bharathiraaja village movie....
  
  For any genre of film, everything he does is synthesized. You will find the movie 'detached' from the music.

  Ambleen, I agree that ARR does alot with synthesizers, and often very well. It's not the synthesizers, but one does with them. The fact that he is in London, writing in a more traditional film music style, detached from street music. He is giving his artful interpretation of gaana style. I think we can appreciate his artistry although it does sound "detached" at times.
