  i second Guru on Mr.Sudhan's issue...layman gimme a break...kewl ramya i guess u know classical music...i wonder if u can teach me some technical stuffs...
  and abt this song in sindhubhairavi which goes like "kalavaniye.." isnt there something different in it...i am not too sure wat but something very distinct..nybody can elucidate.

  Sumathi ,
  Kalaivaniye from Sindhu Bhairavi,is one of the masterpieces from the Maestro.It is set to Kalyani and the specialty of this song is that it does not descend .i.e there is no avarohanam in the song .All through the song it is set to the swaras following the aarohanam .
  With the amount of sangadhis the song has it is really tough to compose one without any avarohanam .
  Rendering by KJY is also a keypoint of that song .
  Thats all i know from that song .:((

  I just happened to songs frm AR rahman's TajMahal (1999)
  Eichi elumichi is fantastic lyrics.... (tooo good in graamiya flow - vairamuthu's genius)
  kuliruthu kuliruthu ( Unni krishnan and swarnalatha) AR rahman had started the song with hindolam and
  transformed it to sindhu bhairavi and the interlude using saarang is clever usage.
  Slite swara bedham is happening between hindolam and S.bairavi in the charanam interludes too
