Hi,
I salute the great western classical gurus. Though I learnt more of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven in my music schools, my western classical scores are greatly influenced by a composer from south India. Ilayaraja, he is one the greatest composer India has ever produced. I consider his compositions as vitamins to my western classical knowledge. I dedicate this song to him.
Actual fact behind the story,
Of late I was forced do some raja bashing due to various reasons. At times, I use to feel within myself that What I do is not right. Though I love the scores of MSV or A.R.Rahman or anyone, knowing about music, I don’t have the right to trash this composer. This has been haunting me for a month now. Only way I know to clean my hands on this is by composing a song and dedicating it to raja.
Please goto to www.mp3.com/jsri and if you belive me, hear the score dedicated to Raja.
Warm Regards.
Srikanth

Please tone down. It may be a digression but not a discourteous one like the it had been in other threads. If the admins allow it, I think it should be fine as they have the final word.

Ivangellaam vaazh kizhiya pesuvaanga aana kaalana prayojanam illa. The last thing you need is the acceptance of mean minded folks. Why do you want to care about the opinions of half-wits who don't have an iota of your abilities ? We, your fans, DEMAND that this thread not be removed !!!
BTW folks, if Srikanth had dedicated his music to ARR, innum 100 per vaazhthirupaanga. If anything, it was courageous of Srikanth to dedicate a song to an MD who's fortunes are on the wane.

Heard your piece again, this time in higher fidelity mode. My appreciation of it only grows. And the fact that it is original makes it sweeter still....

Talking about the lack of attention that IR had to suffer in the last few years, I recall a comment , which I think IR made:
i have been doing my work it is u who were distracted by other attractions . It is like spectators in a cricket match diverting attention when a film star eneters the stadium to watch. cricket was going on but the attention of spectators was not on it. They missed the action. It is their loss and the cricketer does not care for attention. He plays for himself.
IR does not need mass following. He has class following. it would be better that the mass stays away from IR so that he can concentrate creating music which will appeal to classes who appreciate music rather than aiming at chart busters , whose life is short.

I personally feel this is not different much from TFM. When we have separte thread for Hariharan why not this one? Also we need to accept changes instead of doubting them. (I had my own in the beginning). But I feel we must keep aside our personal feelings and welcome good music in any form. We accepted everybody(from politics to Musics) in TN. We appreciate Srikanth's sincere efforts. Just by posting it here, do you all think people purchase an album? Everyone appreciates the best albums by purchasing that. Who knows Srikanth may become a MD sometime soon.
Anyway Srikanth keep up your good work. And feel bogged by the criticism. I believe many of them are positive ones and nothing to get offended.
We Tamilians are said to be generous in appreciating others but these days criticisms in public forums like TFM pages are very vulgar. Admins can act (a bit late) but it is us who can make it decent/educative/enjoyable place.

Srinath,ir, vidhya,Sts and others, thanks for the encouragement, I am bound to compose more!,
I complety forgot the fact that anything out public is bound to severe critizism . In future I will soon learn to take it easy.

Srikanth,
I have enjoyed all your compositions on mp3.com - (Humsanandhi being my most
favorite).
Your works are full of rich layers
of musical ideas and surprises. No one can
believe that your flutes and sax are
played on a keyboard.
Your mastery of a
wide range of styles amazes me. Our best
wishes for your great success.

Is it an exchange of pleasantries that you are upto ? I really admire your composure as you have not vented out despite various people ripping you apart. If ,IMHO, you can rechannelize this for fruitful discussions, I am sure you are bound to find yourself and others in a pleasant situation. I hope you will this.

In the AT, A=Ashok(may be i am faking),
By the way, you never answered your "various reasons". You said, I am making you popular, I am happy too, but give me the "reasons", lets see, in which way you are popular.
In a land of "dumb-heads", the best way to become popular is create a controversy.

srikanth, I guess you made the biggest mistake in your life time by deciding to dedicate this song to IlayaRaja - you should have dedicated it to the best MD ever (and we all know who that is ::)))
That would have saved AT the trouble of wasting his energy here :)

Srikanth,
I finally set up my machine and could listen to all your compositions at mp3.com.
Each composition reflects a different style and are rich in musical ideas. My favorites are Feelings, Memories, The Charukesi feel, Cultural Shock (Who would dare to use Raga Revathi?). Brilliant electric guitar, sax loops. You are the pitch bend maestro.
'Memories' is a special composition. The key note appears in the entire composition only twice.
Best wishes.
